Lab Technician I, Analytical-3rd Shift

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general direction of the quality manager, the qualified candidate will be responsible for performing analytical tests, including chemical and physical tests in addition to sensory tests, which are required for quality control of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods. Participates in investigations and studies to determine cause, effect, and corrective actions required to resolve deviation from quality standards—routine sampling and inspection of material. The employee will adhere to safety procedures, ensure a safe work environment, meet and exceed product quality expectations, and assist in achieving process reliability goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Performs analytical testing using a variety of test methods, procedures, and instrumentation and records, maintains, and reviews results/data in SAP System 
  • Performs sensory tests and participates in sensory-related tasks
  • Required to calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed 
  • Initiates & documents Quality Notifications/DMRs/DMAs, including participating in cross-functional root cause analysis. Facilitates follow-ups & resolutions 
  • Interprets data and gives direction to the manufacturing group to ensure products meet established specifications. 
  • Prepares samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to be sent out for outside testing, including environmental testing 
  • Performs COA verification and raw material sampling 
  • Audits various operational activities as assigned
  • Supports quality projects as required

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • HS diploma or GED 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience (manufacturing experience is acceptable).  
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).  
  • Knowledge of PC software and data entry experience 
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining multiple priorities; ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills  
  • Color Vision (ability to detect color) required. This is due to the need to compare color differences in products daily  
  • Must occasionally wear a PAPR to perform necessary duties on the production floor.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A four-year college degree in science (food science, chemistry, etc.) or a two-year science diploma and two years of relevant technical experience or five years of relevant technical experience. 
  • Experience working in food manufacturing 
  • Working knowledge of statistics preferred
