We are looking to hire a Maintenance Workleader immediately on the 3rd shift (9:30pm-6am, Sun-Thurs) at our Hunt Valley Plant at 11100 McCormick Road.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Team Manager(s), the Work Leader manages and directs daily activities related to mechanical and electrical predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance programs. The role focuses on improving process reliability (PR) while reducing maintenance costs and supporting plant performance objectives.

This position also supports core reliability processes, including Autonomous Maintenance, Early Equipment Management, Training and Focused Improvement.

The Work Leader fosters a high-performance team environment, leads daily direction setting for the shift, and ensures alignment with plant safety, quality, reliability, and cost objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily mechanical and electrical maintenance activities.
  • Drive improvements in process reliability (PR%), waste reduction, cost control, and loss elimination.
  • Coordinate maintenance resources to meet operational objectives.
  • Monitor activities and results; make work assignments and lead escalation and decision-making processes to resolve plant losses.
  • Lead daily cross-shift communications regarding adjustments, downtime, parts/settings changes, and planned/unplanned work.
  • Ensure all safety incidents are reported and handled according to established protocols.
  • Ensure completion of required monthly, quarterly, and annual training for team members.
  • Review and ensure completion of required work orders in CMMS; develop corrective actions from completed work orders.
  • Support and develop High Performance Organization (HPO) teams to embed structured problem-solving methodologies such as A3, PDCA, Breakdown Analysis, and 5-Why into daily operations.
  • Foster strong communication, personnel development, and continuous improvement practices across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Acceptable attendance record.
  • Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve mechanical and processing problems.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical issues and resolving minor equipment problems.
  • Experience in performing changeovers and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, SAP or other ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio.
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillar experience.
  • Experience with high-speed food packaging and processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including formal leadership training.
  • Proven ability to coach, train, and positively influence others with respect and professionalism.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, including risk assessment capability.
  • Experience leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings.
  • Experience with financial forecasting or budgeting.
  • Demonstrated competency to operate all equipment within the business (strongly preferred).

Base Salary: $36.25 - $54.38

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Dividend Program.
