Marketing Director - Channel Marketing Team

The Marketing Director will report to the NA Vice President - Channel Marketing & Digital Commerce. This role will be based at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland and will be eligible to participate in our hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month).

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Channel Marketing Team’s focus is in driving long term profitable growth for our categories and brands in Club, Dollar and Limited Assortment channel in US and Canada. This role will include direction, development, and execution of strategic plans for profitable revenue growth at Club and Alternate Channel Customers. Overall responsibility include annual volume/profitability targets, 3yr Customer Playbook/Strategy in core categories, omnichannel promotion plans, merchandising, packaging new products and pricing recommendations.  Leads direct reports and cross-functional teams through business reviews, annual planning, and in-market execution of channel marketing plans.  Represents channel needs in established stage gate process and insights for pan-channel initiatives.  Closely collaborates with Field Sales with category, shopper, and product insights for base business, new products, and in buyer reviews.  Leads process changes as needed to meet customer timelines, internal development requirements, and product sell-in.  Leads and coaches team through Integrated Business Planning process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Channel Marketing annual budgets and financial targets to deliver growth in these strategic channels for the Consumer Products Division.
  • Develops comprehensive annual and 3yr marketing plans and presents to divisional leadership; and develop and lead transformation business change initiatives.
  • Monitors execution of plans and makes course correction as needed.
  • Leads the Integrated Business Planning process and supports with sales planning for the Channels team.
  • Inspires and leads to key cross-functional partners such as research, sales, product development, manufacturing, quality, finance, legal & Marketing Excellence partners.
  • Achieves and demonstrates a deep understanding and knowledge of our key strategic customers in Club and Alternate Channels.  This knowledge should enable thought leadership and strategy setting that is fully in line with the mandatory needs and strategic direction of each customer.
  • Diversifies Channel portfolio through consumer insights, competitive and market analysis and deep understanding of emerging trends.
  • Demonstrates operational expertise and understanding of MKC ways of working and processes to effectively drive and lead change and optimization that builds capability to win
  • Champions key strategic and tactical initiatives in product quality improvements, new products and line extension development, testing, cost reduction, promotions, and in-market performance of such items.
  • Recommends promotional and pricing (Price/Pack Architecture, price slope) to leadership and internal governance processes, with thinking on cross channel impact and contingency plans.
  • Coaches and develops direct and dotted line reports to be successful in McCormick

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience of demonstrated success in building 3 Year vision grounded in consumer and shopper insights and delivering annual sales and profitability targets
  • Management and development of direct reports and team
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical, and project leadership experience with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Expertise in syndicated databases, market research, business & brand planning, advertising, finance, promotional activities and consumer communications.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA Strongly Preferred
  • Experience working in the Club channel, dollar, or other channels
