Scientist II, Packaging Development Design - Hunt Valley, MD

This new hire will work at the Technical Innovation Center, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Package Developer II will report to a Laboratory Sciences Manager.

This Package Developer II role is responsible for supporting our Consumer, Food Service and Flavor Solutions business segments.  Project work is driven from a range of input areas including McCormick Brands, Sustainability, Private Brands and Supply Chain.


This role is responsible for CAD and secondary packaging design across a wide range of materials types in support of the broad Packaging team.  This role requires a combination of technical & design skills, business knowledge, and cross-functional team navigation.




Included in this role are the following elements:

  • Creation and maintenance of AutoCAD drawings and associated graphics die lines
  • BLUE system graphics die line uploads and coordination
  • Secondary packaging design and sample production; mock-up creation
  • Interacts with all levels of management, works cross-functionally, participates in project planning activities, and provides technical guidance in adjacent areas.
  • Accountable for deliverables & project milestones.
  • Plans, schedules and prioritizes work, insuring deadlines & customer expectations are met. 
  • Enforces established standards, controls and processes.



  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, or Technical Study in a relevant technical discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of CAD and secondary package design experience (corrugated, labels, cartons, etc.)
  • Strong user knowledge of AutoCAD functionality to complete assignments and formulate future direction
  • Fundamental knowledge of packaging materials as related to drawing creation
  • Attention to detail, strong math skills, problem-solving skills, solid communication & interpersonal skills
