Process Systems Technician, Materials and Process Technology

This new hire will work at the Technical Innovation Center, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Process Systems Technician will report to a Principal Engineer.

Candidates will be evaluated for the levels of Technician III, IV or V dependent upon relevant experience and skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under general supervision of engineers and scientists conduct pilot plant and laboratory experiments.
- Configure and install custom equipment for pilot plant and laboratory research projects.
- Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting on pilot plant equipment and laboratory instruments.
- Work with equipment vendors to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with electrical contractors to install and commission instrumentation and controls on pilot plant equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a pilot plant, laboratory or manufacturing facility focused on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical and equipment troubleshooting skills. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
- Experience working equipment such as with data recording devices, motors, VFDs, pumps, thermocouples.
- Technical curiosity. Desire to innovate and build new things.
- Ability to manage time and work independently with little or no supervision.
- Capable of creating documentation for standard operating procedures, data reporting and communications within the department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.
- Lab operations experience measuring physical characteristics such as particle size, density, and moisture.
- Experience working with laboratory standards and calibrations for maintaining equipment.
