The Process Technician role is responsible for the development, improvement, and adherence to manufacturing processes on the floor via standard work creation and subsequent employee training to standard work. This position includes 70% of all time spent on the floor to learn the manufacturing lines, provide live training, and support to production teams, and identify skill and capability opportunities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Standard Process Documentation

  • Through interactive discussion and collaboration with key players; create, maintain, and improve training documentation to support plant needs, including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Job Aids, One Point Lessons (OPL’s), Troubleshooting Guides (TSG’s) etc.
  • Ensure that all standard work and training documentation is organized and readily accessible for the line team o Drives gap closure on any loss that is related back to lack of standard or insufficient standard
  • Act as a lead resource for trainers and SME on their respective operations team 
    • • Training and Leadership
  •  Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide live support and training to technicians who are new, cross training, or experiencing issues while running equipment.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on CI/JTE systems
  • Provide training to technicians and Crew Leaders regarding new and updated procedures.
  • Partner with key Technicians across shifts to provide comprehensive training on knowledge gaps, procedural changes, and process improvements.
  • Participate as a member of the T&D Pillar as part of the site’s JTE roadmap
  • Support Tech Progression program through planning and training in partnership with area leaders and Training Manager.
    • •  Continuous Improvement o Analyze skill gaps on the team and develop plans to close those gaps using training plans and standard training documents.
  • Collaborate with leaders to determine gaps in training documentation.
  • Partner with Training Manager to analyze training KPIs and develop improvement plans.
  • Provide training guidance for RCAs and SMED workshops to ensure employee training and development plans are in place and there is a plan for execution of training initiatives.
  • Observe and assess employees’ performance, provide feedback and coaching on performance, use training tools to close skill gaps, and record training activities and completion in accordance with T&D record retention. o Ideate potential training improvements and work in partnership with the area’s leadership and with the Training Manager to align on path forward.
  • Adhere to the defined training standards to ensure consistency and sustainment of training systems across the site.
    • • Provide support and perform other duties as required by business needs.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least 3 years of packaging and production experience.

• Acceptable attendance.

• Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.

• Proven ability to train and lead others.

• Strong analytical ability.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to learn new software as needed to support business needs.

• Ability to work alternate shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as required by business needs.

• Ability to work cross functionally in a team environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.

• Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and leadership skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, TrakSYS, and other Shop Floor systems.

• Knowledge and experience with TPM.

 

 

Base Salary: $26.78 - $40.18/hr

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Dividend Program.
