Quality Manager I, Supplier/Customer (Dairy)

This new hire will work at the Global Headquarters, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Quality Manager I, Supplier/Customer (Dairy) will report to a Director, Quality and Regulatory.

Reporting into the Director of Quality and Regulatory, the Quality Manager provides strategic leadership and expertise for the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of Key Quality and Food safety programs at strategic suppliers and within McCormick globally.  This individual will collaborate and influence Suppliers, Co-packers, Regulatory, PD, Procurement and Supply Chain functions to implement programs and protocols that improve quality and food safety with a focus on our strategic dairy suppliers. 



  • Developing relationships that establish and maintain effective trusting business partnership with strategic dairy suppliers and McCormick customers at all levels.
  • Leading development and execution of quality/food safety programs, systems, and audit requirements to proactively meet customer quality expectations globally.
  • Data Analysis and Improvement– Data intelligence, specifications, failures, statistical process control, Quality notification resolution.
  • Partner with PD, sites, supply chain and suppliers to ensure Continuous Improvement tools are incorporated into ways of working.
  • Provide dairy expertise, technical support/insight and leadership/partnership to strategic suppliers and global McCormick facilities on food safety and quality issue resolution using root cause analysis, risk assessment, and market action. Serving as Quality/Technical support between McCormick and customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure customer & supplier programs and products are measured, managed using data from first time orders, products, sites, gaps to McCormick and customer standards, Quality Notifications, complaints, proficiency test output, scorecards, and specifications.
  • Product maintenance, onsite commercialization support, and quality leadership for the business team.
  • Serving as Operations and QA interface with strategic suppliers
  • Reinforce Quality Culture and development of strategic suppliers and product knowledge training content, including but not limited to food safety, process control and sensory expertise.
  • Build awareness and communication between suppliers and McCormick with respect to Dairy subject matter expertise, industry best practices, trade association knowledge, and technological advancements.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or relevant technical field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in the food, ingredient, flavor and/or beverage manufacturing industry
  • Minimum 2 years in Dairy Manufacturing (cheese, milk, yogurt, ice cream, spray dried dairy powders, etc.)
  • Experience in at least one Quality focus areas (Customer, Operations, Regulatory, Supplier, Global CoE) or related function, including Supply Chain, Product Development
  • Project Management/ Change Management experience
  • Auditing proficiencies required through training or certification (i.e. ASQ, CFSQA)  
  • Participation in leadership coursework per appropriate level required 
  • Certification focused on Quality and Food Safety for Supply Chain requirement: PCQI (or HACCP based on region) 
  • Travel expectation from 30-40% for supplier and MKC locations support.



  • Commodity spray drying experience
  • Sensory evaluation and cheese grading experience
  • Some experience using statistics including SPC
  • Experience managing ingredient suppliers and existing relationships with dairy suppliers
  • Technical quality knowledge training or certification preferred (CQE, CSSBB) certified quality engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt for example
  • JIFSAN Core Risk Certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Experience interfacing directly with large national and/or international account customers on a regular basis for the resolution of complex quality issues
