POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is the primary financial partner of a Regional Vice President (RVP) of Sales and the Regional Sales team. This position helps set, implement and support the strategic plan for the Regional Sales team through the development of the annual strategic and operating plan. It also provides leadership and expertise regarding profitability, utilization of financial measures, spending control and optimization, and establishment and monitoring of internal controls. This Candidate will lead a team of Sales Finance Analysts in providing analytics and insights to help drive sales growth and effectively manage trade spend. Candidate will develop and implement reporting initiatives for management level reporting and provide leadership and financial training to all team members regarding sales forecasts, customer and product profitability, and trade spend optimization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Sales volume/trade forecast on a monthly/annual basis, including providing monthly reporting and analytics to Sales leadership. Assess risks and opportunities and proactively develop plans to minimize exposure and maximize results.
- Finance oversight of the Trade Promotion Management system, including business process development and reporting to streamline activities and improve analytics that drive bottom line value
- Providing insight and direction in the development of customer contracts, pricing and deal structures.
- Provide leadership and financial training to all team members regarding customer and product profitability, trade spend optimization and TPM enhancements/rollouts.
- Develop, document and ensure adequate controls exist for the trade spending process including monitoring of TPM forecast accruals, planned spending and amounts available for planning for all customers in the region.
- Oversee controls for the trade spending process including monitoring forecast accruals, planned spending, and proper accounting classification for trade spend across all customers.
- Participate on projects to assess trade spend effectiveness through return on investment analysis and incremental lift associated with promotions and develop recommendations to improve future top-line and bottom-line performance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- 8+ years of financial analysis or planning experience.
- Excellent analytical, communication and organization skills.
- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial techniques and the capability to plan own work and respect deadlines.
- Ability to solve complex business problems with incomplete or ambiguous information.
- Ability to analyze detailed information and solve problems based on judgments from practice and previous experience, technical knowledge, reasonable assumptions and / or interpretation of rules and guidelines.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel and basic proficiency of Power Point & Word.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to present to senior management
- Up to 5% travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA and/or MBA
- 2+ years Supervisory experience
- 2+ years Project team experience, to include those that support finance initiatives with the business functions
- SAP/BW/TM1 experience desirable
- Sales finance and/or marketing finance experience including customer contracts and trade funds is preferred
- Consumer Product Goods (CPG) industry experience preferred.
