Position Summary:
The Senior Culinary Technician role will provide support to the McCormick Test Kitchen for recipe testing and product performance testing. The successful candidate will keep accurate and detailed records of recipe trials including measurements, prep instructions and changes required in addition to assisting with product preparation, presentation and demos. This position will be responsible for maintaining McCormick Test Kitchen equipment and supply levels and keeping the kitchen organized, clean and in a safe manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists culinary team with recipe development and preparation for marketing initiatives, promotions, website needs, and other activities. Assists with tolerance testing of new and existing products, and sensory application recipes. Follows test kitchen best practice for testing.
- Supports culinary team with internal events and external customer demonstrations as needed. This includes creating detailed prep lists, organizing equipment and supplies needed, and coordinating with the team on event details.
- Maintains test kitchens overall cleanliness, organization and upkeep.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a safe, clean condition.
- Maintains McCormick products, paper goods and food staples inventory.
- Responsible for daily grocery shopping, online and in-person as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of skillfully cooking in a home-kitchen environment or 1-2 year of experience of cooking in a professional kitchen.
- 2-3 years of experience with Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. in a professional setting.
- Able to read and follow detailed recipes and cooking procedure instructions.
- Able to think critically and offer insightful feedback.
- Able to proactively initiate and follow-through projects and tasks.
- Must have good communication skills including written and verbal.
- Must have excellent project and time management skills.
- Capable of demonstrating proficiency in cooking techniques
- Must be organized, observant and detail oriented.
- Must have a team-player mentality.
- Able to actively listen and follow through on instructions.
- 24 credits of college math and science (preferred)
- ServSafe® Food Handler Certification (preferred)

Base Salary: $24.57 - $36.85
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate inMcCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
