Senior Director, Global External Communications & CSR

The Senior Director of Global External Communications & CSR will be responsible for managing McCormick’s Global corporate external media strategy and global public relations activations, as well as the company’s Sustainability and ESG Reporting, Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy efforts, and Crisis Communications.  This role will also serve as the primary Business partner on Financial, Policy and Customer communications. 



  • Responsible for driving relationships with Top Tier media to deliver positive news coverage. 
  • Drives performance with a robust measurement program benchmarked against Peer Companies across regional and global markets.
  • Works with the Chief Communications Officer and Executive Leadership team on speaking engagements and executive communications. 
  • Oversees the external reporting of the company’s ESG, Sustainability and Purpose-Led Performance initiatives across all corporate platforms.  This role also leads the company’s global CSR and Philanthropy efforts. 
  • Leads the strategy, planning and execution of Crisis, Financial, Policy and Customer communications globally in partnership with Global Functional Leaders.
  • Builds and manages A+ Corporate Communications and CSR team.
  • Collaborates and partners closely with Corporate Branding and Internal Communications Centers of Excellence as well as Global Functions. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or other related field of study.
  • At least 10 - 15 years of Public Relations and/or Communications experience required. 
  • Experience in Public Relations with strong business acumen and business writing capabilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • High level of interaction internally and externally—may serve as face/voice of MKC to media.
  • High level influencing, particularly with media regarding coverage of the company, internal stakeholders, and executive leaders.
  • Ability to work effectively globally and across multiple functions and multiple levels.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.



  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working in corporate communications for a Fortune 500 company and/or the CPG industry.  
  • Experience managing global PR/media, leading sustainability/ESG Reporting and CSR/Philanthropy.
