This new hire will work at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD and will be eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month). The Senior Director, Global HR Operations will report to the VP, Global HR Operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director, Global HR Operations is responsible for strategy development and ensuring execution for HR Operations programs, projects, and policies.  This role leads large-scale global initiatives to ensure a strong HR policy and compliance foundation and enable a best-in-class employee experience.  This role will play a leading role in ensuring streamlined and standardized global HR end-to-end processes. Establishes policy review cycle and defines approach for partnering with local teams when global policy changes are proposed.   Ensures project and program solutions are practical to execute and integrated into regional and functional operations via HR Operations leads. 

 

This role will work cross-functionally with internal partners to develop, implement, and maintain programs and projects that will support Employee Relations globally, achieving operational excellence while providing employees with a positive ER experience.  Serves as the liaison with governmental agencies, professional organizations, and other representatives on regulatory audits or compliance issues in the US and may oversee this activity in other countries.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and drives Global HR Operations strategy and delivery. Develops and maintains sound, systematic policies, procedures, and processes in all major HR operational areas globally. Ensures that these are consistently applied throughout the Company, compliant with governmental regulations, and aligned with company policy, strategy, and ways of working. 
  • Leads large-scale HR Operations programs and projects focused on delivering a best-in-class employee experience.  Improves current programs or develops new programs as needed based on external trends and best practices.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to develop a strategic and proactive approach to Employee Relations globally and directly oversees the ER Manager in the United States. Ensures compliance with all employment laws and regulations globally, develops global frameworks, and coordinates training. Develops and maintains global employment legal counsel relationships for local opinions and guidance.
  • Leads process for responding to inquiries from government contacts in the US (Department of Labor, OFCCP, Employment Practices Liability audits) in collaboration with the legal department. Responsible for overseeing AAP and other required government reporting in certain geographies.  Partners with internal audit and controls team to ensure review and alignment with requirements and drives adjustments and alignment when needed. Champions HR compliance across the global organization through local resources, developing self-audits to identify risk and drive corrective actions to mitigate.
  • Partners with HR Business Partners, Centers of Expertise, and McCormick People Solutions to review and improve current HR operational practices, driving global alignment whenever possible. Provide H2R leadership.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field of study
  • At least 10+ years of experience across multiple areas of HR
  • Experience supporting a multi-country employee base
  • Broad knowledge of HR policies, practices, disciplines, and the full employee lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and corporate guidelines related to all employment practices
  • Proven experience at successfully developing & strengthening management controls and operational processes
  • Experience managing complex, global HR projects and operationalizing HR policies and strategy
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build strong relationships and become a trusted partner to relevant stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills including superb communication, action-orientation, and proven consultancy skills (analysis, problem-solving, facilitation, developing and operationalizing business cases)
  • Cultural astuteness, integrity, and sound judgement
  • Continuous improvement mindset: looks for ways to improve and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in work output and decisions
  • Ability to predict and adapt to changing business trends
