Senior Director, HR - Consumer & Labor Relations

Our Americas Supply Chain organization is undergoing a tremendous period of growth and evolution. The Senior Director, Human Relations will bring together a strong understanding of business needs with progressive people management practices, playing a critical leadership role in this transformation. 

 

 Job Summary

The Senior Director, HR provides strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of HR, including employee relations, change management, coaching, talent assessment and development, succession planning, performance management and organizational design.  This individual oversees a large team of HR Business Partners supporting over 2,500 employees across multiple manufacturing plants.   This position requires strong partnerships across HR Shared Services and Centers of Expertise (CoEs) to ensure the alignment of company-wide HR initiatives and business strategies. We are looking for a leader who has superior technical HR ability, business acumen, and demonstrated experience in building/retaining trust and relationships across the organization.  The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting a manufacturing, distribution, or similar workforce.    

 

As the “keeper of the culture”, the Human Relations function must combine employee advocacy with a high degree of business understanding and acumen.  This individual is responsible for partnering with the business to help solve complex organizational challenges, while ensuring we have the right people in the right roles, to drive results and grow our business.   This role will need to flex from strategic planning to daily support of designated client groups, assessing and anticipating people-related needs, coaching and developing both the business leaders and the HR team,  and developing integrated solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior most HR Business Partner for the Americas Consumer Products Supply Chain organization and the primary HR Business Partner to the Senior Operations Director
  • Foster a positive working environment, ensuring management and employee relations remain collaborative and supportive
  • Consult on employee relations issues, ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all employees
  • In partnership with the COEs, implement talent acquisition, talent management, reward, DEI, organization effectiveness, and learning strategies
  • Directly manage a team of 7 and an indirect team of approximately 15, ensuring that all team members are provided with clear expectations & direction and are empowered and held accountable for high performance
  • Develop the collective bargaining strategy and oversee the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements in collaboration with management
  • Build relationships with key labor organizations and external representatives
  • Evaluate and assist with effective resolution of grievances and other local conflicts resulting from the labor agreements
  • Counsel managers and employees regarding the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements as well as the intent, application, and compliance requirements of labor and regulatory laws
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with operations and union leadership to address and resolve issues and proactively implement effective workplace practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10-15 years of progressive plant and business unit HR experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in an HR leadership role
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Relevant Labor Relations experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a geographically dispersed HR team
  • Familiarity with labor relations
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification
  • MA/MBA in HR, Labor Relations or related field
