Senior Director, Quality Technology & Transformation

The Senior Director, Global Quality Technology and Transformation will report to the VP, Global Quality & Food Safety. This role will be based at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland and will be eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month).

Reporting to the VP Global Quality and Food Safety, the Senior Director of Global Quality Technology and Transformation provides strategic leadership and decision-making for the development, deployment and continuous evolution of innovative quality and food safety technology, automation, analytics, and collaboration capabilities that drive operational and scientific advancement of the Quality and Regulatory function globally.  Through leadership of transformative initiatives such as Quality 4.0 and Quality by Design the Senior Director will lead the development and deployment of operational strategies such as SMART Factory Quality tools, developing and deploying in partnership with Supply Chain next generation on line food safety and error prevention and elimination capabilities, creation of data science capabilities to feed best in class predictive analytics and dynamic risk assessment. The incumbent will directly and indirectly lead the delivery of the Quality and Regulatory resources and accountabilities for TASC and associated cross-functional science programs. 



  • Develop long-range strategic roadmap for quality transformation in alignment with cross-functional teams such as supply chain, R&D, IT, procurement, etc.
  • Deliver globally harmonized portfolio of Quality Technology and Transformation programs, develop capital strategy for Quality & Regulatory, develop and deploy large operational change programs and establish a value creating data science and analytics capability for the Quality function
  • Develop and deploy globally harmonized advanced automation, inline/at-line/rapid testing and connected devices for Quality and Regulatory in partnership with Supply Chain, IT, R&D and other functions
  • Set direction, monitor, and adjust for global and regional technological investments
  • Evaluate industry tech trends and incorporate impactful solutions into the Global Quality programs aligned with Journey to Excellence (JTE) principles
  • Partner with applicable Supply Chain and Food Safety and Quality teams to advance global innovation efforts and with Global Analytics CoE to assure effective alignment and leverage of broad McCormick capabilities
  • Manage, lead, and develop a team of direct reports, including succession/progression planning, performing talent reviews, creating development plans with team, etc.
  • Develop senior internal customer relationships and business strategies, drive organizational value with internal partners directly to assure early alignment and inclusion of quality, regulatory and food safety innovation in change efforts throughout McCormick
  • Serves as a member of the Global Quality & Food Safety Leadership Team



  • Bachelor's degree in in Biology, Chemistry, Food Safety or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant quality experience or related function, including supply chain, product development, etc.
  • Project management/change management experience, including large initiatives such as FSMA implementation, plant quality turn around or closure, global customer leadership, progressive quality/TPM/JTE leadership
  • Ability to build diverse, inclusive teams to drive innovation. 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and cross-functional teams that support change, collaboration and deliver results, using change management tools. 
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, develop, and communicate global, operating unit and/or regional Quality and Regulatory Strategy based on Quality, Regulatory and Food Safety Standards, cross functional stakeholder, SME, and Global Quality & Regulatory senior leadership input
  • Knowledge of Innovation Strategies, Product Lifecycle Management, Packaging, and Commercial Strategies. Ability to understand implications of those strategies and to make operational changes to support organizational performance  



  • Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Safety, or related field of study
  • Certification within the Quality field (ASQ, CHA, CQE, etc.)
  • Experience in food/flavor industry
  • PCQI certification
