POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Engineer is responsible for managing complex technical projects and process development as part of a global initiative through all phases of product design and launch to create intellectual property and competitive advantage for McCormick. The Senior Engineer will plan and implement applied research in Process Technology and be responsible for the commercialization of new products and technologies. This individual will be expected to contribute to technical problem solving for customers, both internally and externally, process design and development, process analysis and scale-up, and materials physical properties and their effects on processing. This Senior Engineer will be expected to analyze and document results and communicate these results to the technical community and management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads process engineering work related to strategic technical projects and programs that make use of proprietary technology
  • Leads the design and development of processes related to commercialization and manufacturing of products incorporating new technologies
  • Provides expertise and technical guidance in food engineering and processing to Product Development Scientists as well as to Manufacturing/Supply Chain Engineers
  • Supports new product commercialization and problem solving in manufacturing
  • Manages IP for all current projects
  • Provides technical direction to and/or may supervise junior level Scientists and Engineers
  • Presents strategies, progress, and products to senior management

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Food Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of R&D and/or manufacturing experience
  • Experience managing large, complex projects
  • Strong background in process engineering and manufacturing operations
  • Effective verbal and written communications
  • Experience working with Operations and Supply Chain functions
  • Experience with process scale-up from pilot to commercial scale manufacturing
  • Experience collaborating and communicating effectively across levels and functions
  • Experience with statistical design of experiments and analysis of data

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the food, flavor, ingredient, and/or beverage industry
  • MS or PhD in Food Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Experience in milling, blending, extraction, sizing, separation, reaction flavors and / or spray drying
  • Experience with strategic planning
  • Product development experience
