Trade Compliance Analyst

The Trade Compliance Analyst will report to an International Trade Compliance Director.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Execute Foreign Trade Compliance activities to reduce exposure to Import and Export violations for the company. Responsible for the analysis and maintenance of Tariff Classifications for single ingredient materials and provides guidance and knowledge to one to two business units and management regarding International trade treaties, trade documentation and Customs related activities. Required to maintain communications with legal departments and government agencies such as Customs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execution of import compliance activities which includes weekly weight discrepancy reporting and analysis, responding to customs request for information (CF28's and 29's) and accessing ACE portal for IOR activity.
  • Execution of export compliance activities which includes management of Export government reporting ( AES/EEI), SPL screening and monitoring system updates.
  • Provide customer service support to Export and sales departments which includes weekly legal control status updates, providing information on requirements of other countries and product registrations.
  • Manage trade program documentation to include vendor declarations, GSP, Certificates of origin , and US Returned Goods. Maintain GTS system with up to date information.
  • Conduct broker audits and ensure Broker's are adhering to execution of activities as agreed upon in SOP's - monitoring for compliance.
  • Execute testing for GTS upgrades, enhancements and issues that enable and improve business processes
  • Supports MGIL purchasing personnel with HTS classifications, origin , trade programs and requirements for importing in to the US.
  • Perform research and analysis to assign FDA product codes for all food imports. Maintain codes in GTS.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICAIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree, or in lieu of degree 3-4 years of relevant experience in International Business, Business, Food Science, Chemistry, Finance
  • FDA training, Customs related training
  • 2+ years required experience in the international import/export trade industry to include majority of aspects of US importing and exporting: regulations, US Customs and compliance, HTS classification, origin determination, trade preference and other government agencies. Must have a good understanding of customs regulations around the world in order to ship product globally. Need to understand how Foreign Trade integrates with other functional areas in the organization, the role Foreign Trade has in the organization and basic commercial awareness. Need to understand how competitors products and services are being classified and managed so we can be competitive.
  • Experience with Microsoft word, Excel, Power point. Communication skills- written and verbal to communicate effectively with outside counsel, government agencies, vendors and customers. Organization and problem solving skills- Detailed oriented, self motivated and able to work both independently and with teams. Initiative to follow tasks to completion.
  • Ability to represent McCormick with diplomacy and tact with internal and external stakeholders.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of on -line government databases and regulatory guidelines preferred. 2+ years food industry experience strongly preferred ( prior food knowledge in the areas of spices, seasonings and/or flavorings strongly preferred) 2+ years experience in trade database and ERP systems strongly preferred.
