Trade Marketing Director

This new hire will work at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD and will be eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month). The Trade Marketing Director will report to the VP, Trade Marketing & Sales Operations.

The Trade Marketing Director, Spice & Extracts, Recipe Mix, Specialty, and Mojave's primary purpose will be to connect key customer/region strategies with internal strategies to create mutually beneficial plans that drive sales and profits for McCormick.  The successful candidate will be responsible for creating region/key customer plans for all retail channels, have overall leadership for delivering best-in-class brand plans to the sales team and customers and be the key point of contact for Field Sales Leadership.  This position is the voice of customer into Marketing leadership. 



  • Achieving sales and profit targets
  • Collaboration with marketing to design and deliver fact based, insight driven programs and innovation
  • Development, execution, and evaluation of Annual Operating plan (AOP)
  • Communication and tracking of all national programs, work with regional sales teams to integrate and implement to ensure OGSM's are achieved
  • Evaluating trade promotional calendar, manage budgets and find trade spending efficiencies
  • Lead best practices and development of strategic trade spending initiatives
  • Collaborate in matrix organization with finance, category management, revenue management, supply, marketing and sales
  • Liaison between Sales and Marketing
  • Leading and developing a team of seven with three being direct reports - coaching and mentoring, PMD process, individual development plan execution



  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance or related field
  • At least 7 years of Sales Planning/Trade Development/Trade Marketing Leadership Experience
  • At least 12 years of Sales and Marketing management experience within the consumer packaged goods industry
  • At least 5 years of experience reviewing and analyzing shipment and point of sales data for consumer goods
  • At least 3 years of managing and developing a team of 3+ direct reports
  • Strong skills in collaboration and communication while leading multiple cross-functional projects at one time
  • Has participated or led the IBP/Demand planning process
  • Has directly managed trade funds
  • Proven experience with all retail channels
  • Ability to lead customer planning process (Plan, Execute, Measure, Learn)
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Negotiation skills needed to lead collaboration between Sales and Marketing
  • Teamwork - must work towards a common goal and strive for alignment
