This new hire will be based at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD and will be eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month).

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The VP, Global Consumer Strategy is a key leader on the Corporate Strategy team providing a high-level of thought leadership generating strategic ideas and options to strengthen McCormick’s competitive position, to drive differentiated and profitable growth and to create sustainable shareholder value.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Vice President, Global Consumer Strategy is accountable for providing leadership to the Global Consumer Strategy Council and partnering with business unit leaders to formulate successful strategies for continued profitable growth enabling McCormick to win the marketplace. Responsibilities include:
- Lead the annual strategic planning process for Consumer segment to identify, develop and deploy strategic initiatives that support the Company’s enterprise strategic roadmap. The role will partner with the regional commercial leaders ensuring global connectivity and resulting in an integrated Global Consumer strategic roadmap with robust and relevant strategies; programs identified to drive effective strategy execution at a global scale; and metrics and milestones defined to measure the effectiveness of strategies and progress on the roadmap execution.
- Provide leadership, in conjunction with the Chief Growth Officer to the Global Consumer Strategy Council (GCSC), to drive the GCSC’s agenda and ways of working to enable effective strategy execution. The role will develop and manage the activation of global workstreams and related projects; collaborate with regional commercial and global functional leaders to align on prioritization and resource allocation; analyze insights and adapt to new knowledge and circumstances; and report progress on the plan’s metrics and milestones with a council scorecard.
- Communicate the global Consumer segment’s strategic priorities, including their linkage to organizational actions and progress on their execution within the organization. Additionally, support the Investor Relations group with the communication of strategies to externally.
- Generate, evaluate, and recommend strategic ideas and options to contribute to the Consumer segment’s growth and plan any related new strategic initiatives. This includes identifying the financial contribution required to achieve the segment’s growth objectives and key value pools and growth levels to focus on to achieve those objectives.
- Collaborate on projects as needed across the strategy team or the broader organization including, as example, involvement in global innovation activities and reporting and identification of new global platforms and implementation coordination.
- Deliver external perspective to the GCSC and Company’s leadership team related to the food industry and the market landscape of the Consumer segment’s categories, aligning those perspectives to the Company’s strategic priorities. Monitor, understand and communicate the competitive landscape to the Company’s leadership to increase awareness of competitor strategies and actions, assessing both threats and opportunities.
- Cultivate a high-performance working environment optimizing structure and processes, developing and empowering formal and informal team members and creating stronger capabilities and business partnerships.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics, business administration, or related field of study. MBA will also be valued.
- 12+ years of progressive business or commercial experience, including managing or analyzing a consumer branded or flavor solutions portfolio/business of significant scale at a global or regional level as well as knowing how to build a profitable, sustainable business model to drive growth.
- Senior level experience with developing or assessing strategies, preferably including developing operating plans or actions needed to execute on the strategies as well establishing metrics and assessing the effective execution of the strategies.
- Demonstrated history of strong leadership, including leading cross-functional teams, building credibility and positive relationships, and influencing without direct authority, to drive results and effectively deliver on objectives.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of external business environment, including industry and customer development or trends as well as the competitive landscape/dynamics.
- Strong global perspective and experience with operating across multiple countries
- Capability to manage the scope, scale, and global complexity inherent in the role.

- Ability to communicate the company’s business segments vision and mission as well as the strategic priorities, the rationale for them, and the expected results from their execution. This includes communicating the linkage between actions and strategies.
- Ability to build credibility with senior leadership, gain respect of cross-functional partners and motivate others globally and drive alignment across teams. Possess the organizational and emotional intelligence to identify decision makers and influencers.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of setting high expectations, motivating team members to achieve challenging goals, and driving the team to deliver high quality results.
