The Maintenance Mechanic is capable of performing all Maintenance Technician functions at the highest level of proficiency (mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and repair, fabrication, etc.) and additionally acts as a back-up (to engineering) on automated software control systems. Oversees training of employees, scheduling of work, inventory management and budget review/forecasting process for maintenance cost center. Works with project engineers, contractors, and maintenance personnel on the installation/modification/repair of new equipment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform high level Maintenance Technician duties to resolver escalated issues
- Training/mentoring of others
- Management of work order process/system and scheduling of technicians
- Budget management/review with plant leadership team
- Control system programing/troubleshooting
- Inventory management
Education:
Minimum required certifications required to perform the job:
- Formal training or apprenticeship in skilled trade in control systems
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years maintenance/skilled trades
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated leadership (formal or informal)
- Minimum of 1 year control systems experience
- Exceptional people skills (leads without direct reports)
- Negotiation skills with vendors/contractors
Business Expertise:
High level understanding required of manufacturing imperatives (GMPs, Safety, Quality, Process Reliability)
High level understanding required of food industry equipment
This role encounters complex technicla and mechanical issues and is responsible for developing solutions that meet cost/quality/safety requirements.
High degree of problems solving and innovation required on a daily basis
