SCHEDULER I- Day Shift

The Scheduler I position is a blended position with responsibility for material purchasing, as well as inventory and scheduling.  The incumbent’s initial focus will be inventory and production scheduling.  Under the direction of the Materials Team Manager, the Scheduler I’s responsibilities include:

  1. Results ownership:  support plant and department OGSM’s and targets in support of greater than 80% Process Reliability
  2. Support production lines in achieving goals for PR, safety, quality, and service
  3. Actively participate in CI initiative
  4. Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  5. Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  6. Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  7. Works with external McCormick resources, such as planning and purchasing functions, to clarify material demand and supply and to accomplish team objectives.
  8. Plans and orders materials from suppliers and coordinates with suppliers to ensure adequate supply of raw materials.
  9. Meets with suppliers to review vendor performance and works with customer service.
  10. Prepares production reports. 
  11. Uses SAP, email, and MS Excel.
  12. Prepares lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
  13. Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned                                                                                                            

 

Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of product scheduling in a manufacturing environment required.
  3. Experience with MS Word and Excel required.  SAP experience preferred.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, required.
  5. Must be able to read, interpret and analyze documents, such as sales forecast, customer orders, reports, purchase orders, etc. to adequately prepare production schedule, required.
  6. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, vendors, and other employees, required.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate written and orally with all levels of the organization, as well as internal and external customers, required.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
  9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to function effectively as part of a team, required.
  10. Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt to an environment with multiple tasks and changing priorities, required.
  11. Ability to interpret and work with abstract and concrete variables in standardized situations, including solving problems, required.
  12. Ability to work overtime on short notice with flexibility in start times and work days, required.
