This is a senior level position which has responsibility for delivering enterprise wide technology capability supporting McCormick’s transformational programs. The main priority for this role is ensuring that the global SAP S4 business transformation program is successfully implemented delivering the business capabilities in an environment which is safe, secure and enabled for future growth.

 

The role will also be responsible for the successful delivery of other strategic business programs, with budgets exceeding $10MM, within the IT Business Relationship organization. These programs affect the ability of the business to make and deliver products to customers, legal and regulatory, reporting, product pricing and promotion planning and execution, and new capability / innovation delivery. This position is accountable for ensuring proper design and controls are in place to enable the enterprise applications are safe, secure, reliable and fully integrated across the business landscape. Strong problem-solving skills involving multiple constraints, many of which are not within the direct control of the architect. The results of the problems have a direct and material impact on the costs, schedule, quality and outcome of the related program. Ability to continually improve enterprise performance, determining potential risks, and initiate corrective actions and monitoring activities.

 

The role of the IT Business Solutions Architect is to provide global strategic, transformational, functional and technical leadership to McCormick, including:
 

  • Overall management of developing new enterprise business systems which enable business digital transformation and drive global alignment, supporting the corporate strategic needs across all the Business functions.
  • Optimizing the existing enterprise business systems and driving continuous improvement.
  • Defining strategic road maps for business applications exploiting emerging technologies and transforming into action plans.
  • Defining and aligning the enterprise standards and solutions with the infrastructure and security architecture standards to ensure complete end-to-end enterprise solutioning.
  • Leading, directing and facilitating IT investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization.
  • Defining the principles, standards, and best practices for Business Architecture aligning with industry standards, business and IT partners.

 

This position requires a solid track record of IT business solution architecture with both depth and breadth across multiple different industries. Strong business transformation experience along with demonstrable stakeholder management experience, with an ability and attitude to influence and advise at all levels, up to executive leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategic business technology and architectural planning for McCormick corporation.

  • Lead, design and manage the development of end to end fully integrated enterprise application solutions to support the business initiatives
  • Create and define the enterprise technology road maps for the Business relationship management organization
  • Lead and manage the global enterprise architecture discipline ensuring solutions are efficient, safe and secure.
  • Create and define the global enterprise architecture design, initiatives, capabilities, and components to adequately perform the organization's global operations and technology activities
  • Creating methods for compliance architecture, such as application integration, data storage, metadata management, and change control.
  • Creating multiple contingency plans to incorporate and anticipate long term business and technology trends

Evaluating business functions, business development strategies, business applications and IT processes, research best practice and build business cases to deliver roadmaps

  • Work with business stakeholders to facilitate the creating and defining business enterprise capability maps, visions and value streams aligned with business priorities
  • Work in partnership with Solution architecture to own the connection between business partner long term plans and delivering of solutions.
  • Creating business architecture models that reflect the organization's strategies and goals.
  • Work with the business relationship organization leading to streamlining and rationalizing the IT enablement process.
  • Ensure the solutions selected and designed, align to the business architecture, principles and governance.

Develop and grow a sustainable IT Solutions Enterprise architecture model with consistent practices  
 

  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and assistance in developing training to improve employees' knowledge and skills for future organizational growth.
  • Maintaining the knowledge repository for IT Solutions Enterprise Architecture and design documentation relating to the current and future landscapes

Manages all components of assigned programs, including budgets, resource allocations and scope etc. Accountable for the communication of program progress. Provides regular status updates to senior management with emphasis on delivery of business objectives, management of risks, and assessments of scope and quality attainment.

 

Addresses the most complex design and troubleshooting problems within the Business / Technical areas This typically involves large, inter-dependent cross functional business units and complex systems. Suggesting ideas to reduce costs in IT and core business areas.

 

Leading the approach to IT Business Solutions architecture with the engagement/interaction of Senior Executives on a regular basis. Collaboration with a large number of internal and external partners

 

Required Qualifications

 

Level of Education and Discipline

A Bachelor’s degree in business, technology and / or management is required. A Master’s Degree would be preferred

Certification and/or Licenses

Certified in TOGAF level II and or GEAF with practical demonstrated industry experience, TOGAF certification being preferred

 

Required Experience

12+ years of relevant experience in leadership roles of increasing

responsibility and scope, including 10 years in an IT architect role.

 

 

Functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

Strong business acumen to help with considering long-term business and technology strategies, risks, and costs when developing potential solutions. Demonstrates authoritative knowledge in core business functions and its implications for the organization and the industry.

 

Highly competent business architecture with detailed knowledge with an enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.

 

Highly developed written and verbal communications and presentation skills that are clear, concise, user friendly and appropriate in timing and directed to appropriate levels

 

Has the proven ability to integrate across the business and technical environments to address business and technical problems developing long-term plans for the organization.

 

Develop appropriate business relationships internally and externally regularly interacting, advising and aligning with senior business leadership.

 

Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate, or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business. Expert in applying architectural principles to business solutions.

 

The ability to visualize and create process, system and data models used to extend and mature the enterprise architecture.

 

Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives, using business modelling processes to the desired outcome

 

The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and work flow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realization and service delivery.
