R&D Technologist

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support development of products as per the project briefs by sample preparations, sensory evaluations, shelf life studies and all other relevant studies.
  • Documents findings and results, based upon project requirements, provides ideas that help define lab work & shows creative problem solving
  • Improve existing products by modifying /replacing ingredients / introducing new ingredients.
  • Support the studies to reduce the cost of existing products by moving to cost competitive ingredients, omitting certain ingredients and / or changing levels of raw ingredients without compromising on the finished product quality.
  • Attend production trials internally and / customer site.
  • Keeping up to date with latest technologies and developments and incorporate these into project work if they prove to be beneficial.
  • Maintain highest standards of food hygiene and have these standards in Lab. when working on project briefs.
  • Maintain lab stock control and daily checks.
  • Maintain awareness and keep up to date with current food legislation.
  • Conducting some technical department functions such as hygiene and internal audits when necessary.
  • Other ad hoc duties as appropriate, in line with business requirements

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Graduate from Food Science
  • Product development experience in sector.
  • Previous experience within the Food Industry or in a laboratory environment desirable
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Assertive and able to communicate efficiently to various levels within the organisation
  • Computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and on short deadlines
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or individually (ability to use own initiative)
  • General numerical and problem-solving skills (logical approach to problems)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within the team and show adaptability
  • To be able to multitask and be detail oriented.
