McCormick’s Turkey location is Kemalpaşa, İzmir, Turkey.

 

The Senior Flavourist is a part of a well-established team primarily responsible for developing winning Seasonings and Coating Systems for our key Flavour solutions customers.

Primary purpose of this role is to design and develop new products proactively or in response to briefs and support implementation in primarily our Kemalpasa manufacturing plant.

The NPD process entails optimising, developing and cost reducing via recipe creation, laboratory pilot studies and trials to reach best sensory delivery for the brief, customer and target market within product and customer financial targets. As part of the cross-functional team the flavourist would see the product through the market implementation and occasionally troubleshooting to follow.  

 

Optimise, develop and cost reduce product and coating systems for key flavour solutions customers across EMEA, proactively and / or in response to briefs

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project management of major projects to EMEA and Programme management and communication of Dry Category.
  • Initiate and drive forward briefs/development at flavour and ingredient suppliers (including McC US) to deliver winning product designs. Lead the management of key suppliers from an R&D point of view giving actionable, objective feedback developing our supplier base working toward increased growth for both McC and chosen suppliers.
  • Develop and optimise products, and cost reduce product systems, proactively and /or in response to briefs and allocated projects, working autonomously.
  • Manage projects, ensuring that the appropriate cross-functional resources (sensory, research, regulatory, commercial, consumer insights, technical services, production, and QC) are allocated and co-ordinated to achieve the customer brief to agreed cost and time targets.
  • Use sound commercial and technical awareness of our ingredients, processes, and customer requirements to deliver ‘right first time’ from scale up in the customers factory ensuring a flawless launch in all customer plants.
  • Key contact for customer divisional team.
  • Ownership for briefing to the Sensory Group and reporting results to the customer of any sensory or consumer-based validation tests that relate to projects undertaken.
  • Mentor and steer junior team members with respect to lab protocol, technical understanding and delivering winning briefs.
  • Maintain company standards for administration, Health & Safety, GMP and housekeeping in the work environment.
  • Take a customer facing role in all appropriate customer meetings presentations, store support, trials and project updates.
  • Work closely with Product and Process Implementation team for scale-up and seamless transfer of products into manufacturing plant by trial lead and co-ordination, functionality testing and iteration through the UK PPI team and supporting seasoning Scale-up & First Time Orders.
  • Ensure that the product implementation programme can re-create the lab design for new products within the manufacturing environment and that new products will perform in both the McCormick process and those of our customers or co-packers, where appropriate.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Education: Graduate in Food Engineering related subject
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ creative product development experience ideally within the food industry. Experience in blending and packing of dry seasonings preferred.
  • Project management skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Proven track record of creativity
  • Ability to build excellent customer relationships at all levels
  • Commercial knowledge and how it impacts the business
  • Ability to discuss and move forward ideas
  • Knowledge of tariffs and trade duties within the EMEA countries
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to supervise the work of a team
