Senior Sales Manager

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership - Develop and agree individual account strategy aligning company and customer strategies, fully drive Customer Intimacy programmes within all customers external & internal
  • Business Sense - Ensure effective forecast accuracy via the McCormick forecasting system.
  • Strong service orientation initiatives to drive plans (Customer and Company). Short term and Long term planning with Routes to Market – Strong business planning & development skills 
  • High performance / Results focus - Tracks defined company measures and propose remedial actions to address gaps. Develop solutions to close volume, Value & Profit gaps on a daily basis reporting activity to Commercial controller on a weekly basis. Has delivery always front of mind, finds solutions
  • Ensure achievement of sales and profit targets (NSV and GM), effective management of customer P&L. Working closely with the internal business team – Financial manager to ensure the business delivers volume and profit aligned to the FS strategy
  • Handling Complexity - Ensure promotional plans are effectively executed within agreed budgets. Fully evaluate all promotional activity post execution for future investment and financial return
  • Ensure all activities are effectively planned and executed. Full planning activity via S&OP integrated into daily business planning & review
  • Ensure that negotiations with accounts for fiscal terms and profit levels are well planned agreed and budgeted. Development of concepts and ideas for discussion presented to the Commercial Director / Business for open discussion to ensure alignment is maintained
  • Keep abreast of industry and account specific trends, competitor activity and communicate with Consumer team as required. Avidly seek insight and information for discussion within the team and business
  • Innovation & Risk taking Work with appropriate internal teams (category management, marketing, supply chain, customer services, NPD/R&D, sensory, purchasing & operations) to ensure execution of agreed plans.
  •  Push to get samples for business ideas in advance of agreement from the business or customer, innovate, take risks, can be fully relied upon to be proactive and lead customer activity and handle real complexity within the McCormick business to get the job done at a pace, delivering to the customer but taking away the pain of doing business.
  • Strong Functional proficiency must be able to facilitate effective multi functional/level networks within wholesale/distributor and end user customers. Must have market insight and knowledge within foodservice to get the job done
  • Personal / Team must be able to fully develop an appropriate contact network within strategic customer base (end user), importantly be a team player, a cornerstone of the team and the business. A real ‘Go to Guy’ has real presence and is fully trusted within the business.
  • Leads the business & Customers in utilising available channel/market/trend/product data within appropriate customer presentations. Being ‘Authentic’ and seen as a market champion
  • Avoid high levels of inventory and slow moving and obsolete stock through accurate order transactions and working cross functionally.
  • Prepare and maintain pricing list in conjunction with finance.
  • Working closely with other Industrial teams across EMEA to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives / pricing etc.
  •  Assist customer service as required.

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Sales professional with proven successful FMCG experience (previous experience of food industry would be a significant advantage). Marketing and/or Category management experience would be a significant advantage.
  • Strong financial/commercial understanding together with ability to interpret and manage P&L
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • Proven customer management skills
  • Good communicator both verbal and written
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels (internal and external)
  • Good project management skills
  • Good PC skills.
