Position Overview
Import Analyst II is responsible for executing the import process, tracking material and documents from source to release for delivery. The incumbent will specialize in the following areas listed. In addition, the incumbent must have the knowledge to support the other department areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Verifying documentation, duty and taxes, timely entry and clearance of air/ocean and courier international and cross-border shipments, Controls internal release of imported merchandise, pending satisfaction of regulatory requirements.
- Participate in new imported product processes. Maintain import database.
- Internal entry audit and quarterly metric reporting.
- Support cross functional dairy quota programs, apply for dairy permits from Global Affairs.
- Application, reporting and tracking of dairy, meat and fish programs. Safe Food for Canadians program. Oversight of K84 program (CARM)
- CARM program for payments of duty and HST to CBSA
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Distribution, Logistics, Transportation, International Business or related field with 1 to 2 years’ experience in Import Operations
- OR a Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5 to 7 years progressive work experience in Import Operations.
- Strong import legislation, CBSA knowledge and OGD relationships required.
- Customs brokerage experience highly desirable
- Ability to evaluate (sometimes complex) situations using multiple sources of information
- Must display courtesy and tact as the exchange of information is a significant part of the job
- Demonstrated success leading recommendations and change
- Ability to communicate across peer and up 1 level of the organization both internally and externally
- Proficiency with SAP, LOCUS and Office 365
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience working with an ERP
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication & organization skills.
