We are currently hiring for a Millwright to join our Operations team at 600 Clarke Road, London (519 432 7311). This position is on a rotating shift.
The Maintenance Millwright is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of production and processing equipment. This role performs both mechanical and limited electrical maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Working closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams, the technician diagnoses equipment failures, implements solutions, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with food safety, GMP, quality, and workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to ensure optimal performance of plant equipment and machinery.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production lines and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in maintaining and improving production line efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance.
- Operate and maintain workshop machinery and tools, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, welders, and other fabrication equipment.
- Fabricate, repair, and install machine components and equipment to support manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support spare parts inventory management by identifying replacement needs and providing stockroom personnel with accurate parts information.
- Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements by following company policies, government regulations, and established work procedures.
- Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and workplace safety while supporting shift, weekend, and overtime requirements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary diploma
- 433A trade license and certificate of Apprenticeship
- 3-4 years of on the job experience, preferable in food industry
- Effective communication skills
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base pay for this position is $42.00 - $45.00 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift and a $1.50 per hour shift differential for 3rd shift. Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Dividend Program.
