Microbiologist - A Shift (Tues-Sat) (CONTRACT)

Position Description:

  • Conducts accurate and timely testing of in-process and finished products using Corporate approved methods, completing all tests, properly interpreting results and releasing items in a timely manner.
  • Conducts accurate and timely testing of Environmental monitoring samples using corporate approved methods, completing all tests and properly interpreting results in a timely manner
  • Identify areas of concern (out of spec micro results, out of spec EM results, etc.), issue QN’s and RCCA’s as required
  • Provide troubleshooting support to the production departments by investigating issues that adversely affect food safety/quality or manufacturing efficiency and recommending potential solutions. 
  • Conduct lab proficiency testing
  • Communicates effectively with internal customers, other McCormick divisions, vendors and external customers when required
  • Retrieve samples from warehouse as required
  • Conduct monthly GMP audits, allergen swabbing as required.
  • General housekeeping of lab.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Follows all GLP and GMP requirements.
  • Performs daily line audits as required.
  • Participates in JTE as required.


University degree in Microbiology or related discipline



3 to 5 years in food industry.



  • Familiar with Quality Control systems, GLP, HACCP and GMP’s
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle heavy workloads with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime as required and flexibility to work other shifts as required.
