We are looking to hire a Direct Tactical Buyer in a Hybrid (60/40) capacity for our site in Mexico City. This is 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, incumbent coordinates and conducts the purchase of ingredients, MRO, services, packaging to support production and CAAP equipment. The Buyer must assure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and follow appropriate accounting practices. The position is responsible for maintaining positive and constructive relationships with vendors. The Buyer is responsible for the collaborative development of strategies and programs to optimize cost, rationalize the supply base and bring value to the Corporation while mitigating risk and ensures highest levels of service, quality standards, and cost efficiency. The Buyer may also lead and assist in continuous improvement projects focused on improving packaging design, durability and cost.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Systems of High Performance (Goal Setting, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Training & Development, Information Systems, Rewards & Recognition) to ensure maximum benefits for the resources expended. Conducts Supplier Performance Management by assuring vendor compliance in terms of delivery and quality. Participates in supplier reviews.
  • Manage existing supplier relationships, cultivate new supplier relationships. Facilitates contracts and pricing agreements w/suppliers. Participates in planning and forecasting process and establishing standard costs. Interact with Plant leadership to specify the precise product standards and service criteria that is expected from McCormick suppliers. Optimizes buying power and CBAs (current best approaches) by working collaboratively with Buyers from other McCormick divisions.
  • Maintain cost containment for supply chain and plant purchases. Under the direction and leadership of the Manager, leads and assists in continuous improvements projects focused on reducing costs and improving efficiencies.
  • Provide assistance to Engineering and Operations regarding required purchases and acquisitions related to CAAP's.
  • Serve as liaison to Corporate Purchasing and will provide feedback and recommendations for improvement to vendor performance and issues.
  • Serve as a liaison for vendors and preferred suppliers. Places daily orders with vendor, monitors the process, and expedites deliveries. Analyzes product usages to maintain safely stock levels to optimize both cost and service and meet inventory objectives.

 

Requiered Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting or applicable field of study required.
  • Experiences in Purchasing/Supply Chain environment FMCG preferred with appropriate business experience in Procurement/Logistics, Information Technology, and/or Materials Management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC software, especially SAP, Excel , Word, and Lotus Notes.
  • Strong contractual / negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has broad knowledge of Sourcing process and has developed an expertise in one or more categories of responsibility.
  • Is expected to independently research other options, develop project plan/proposals and initiate discussions with supervisor to gain approvals.
  • Has proven effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has demonstrated effective negotiation skills w/some direction or oversight provided.
  • Developed communication skills to exchange sometimes complex information.
  • Advanced/fluent English communication (spoken & written).
