Position: Finance Controller - Commercial
Based: Midrand, South Africa
In this role, you will be responsible for providing financial presence and support in specifically identified processes and procedures that influence and/or affect the Sales and Reporting functions directly across the SA business.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Business Partnering with commercial team
• Monitor and explain the financial performance of customers
• Prepare and manage customer and product profitability analysis and reporting
• Provide guidance on life cycle management and customer business plans
• Administer and update customer pricing models, and keep partners updated as to the cause and effect thereof
• Control all aspects of pricing including ROI and price modelling
• Together with the Commercial Team, identify opportunities and strategies to target growth areas within key customers and or new customers/markets
• Business Partnering with the supply chain team
• Interrogate the customer forecast, explain and question variances in order to ensure a true and fair demand plan
• Identify and correct customer selling price variances
• Prepare and manage customer freight and discount reports
• Analyse and comment on main raw material movements and the risks involved
• Provide support and cover for Business Partners
• Support Global reporting and analysis for some customers
• Update and maintain TM1 and ensure EMEA commercial reporting deadlines are kept
• Carry out month end commercial processes, including rebate accruals and customer allowances
• Improve core commercial finance processes where needed
• Ensure all commercial processes are documented and Sarbanes Oxley compliant
• Prepare ad hoc commercial viability studies and present risks and rewards
• Partner with local and EMEA management team
• Prepare and present the monthly S&OP financial report, highlighting / comment on main drivers and risks, as well as action plans to mitigate risks
• Partner with the finance team
• Prepare and complete predetermined balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure customer selling price, discounts and freight rates are updated and maintained in SAP
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Educated, comm graduate / CIMA or equivalent qualification
• 5 years+ working experience in FMCG environment (International companies would be a positive) that included exposure to costing and management of the P&L
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of fully integrated financial/ERP system (SAP & Syspro)
• Strong Excel skills (demonstrable knowledge of VLOOKUPS, Pivot tables)
• Personal and team leadership skills, with proven ability to build, influence & sustain relationships at all levels of the organisation
• Strong analytical skills
• Able to handle complexity and achieve results
• Ability to work to tight deadlines.
