Position:            Raw Materials Technologist

Based:               Midrand, RSA

                 

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Project manage Raw Material Shortages to ensure raw material continuation into operations for alternative and or new raw materials supporting supply chain and operations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to keep abreast of potential raw material issues.
  • Partner with Procurement to ensure that all product samples, costings, and specified lists of documentation are received prior to commencing any testing on NPD, CCI and De-risk Projects.
  • Lead the generation of a `where used’ report to identify 3-5 finished products in which the specific raw material is used at highest concentration across snacks, coating systems and sauces. 
  • Compound/ Blend seasonings and apply seasonings to the appropriate base or end application for internal review and sensory validation, ensuring retention samples are maintained according to Laboratory Procedures in line with specified guidelines.
  • Manage and facilitate samples readiness for QA Analytical Testing, Sensory Validation, Functionality Testing, Shelf-Life Testing and Trials.
  • Partner with SNR PD to compile presentations including samples and all test results for final project approval.
  • Support the sourcing of New Raw Materials and maintenance thereof.
  • Support NPD to ensure delivery of NSV in South Africa for all customers by managing new raw material requests in collaboration with the relevant PDTs.
  • Support PDTs with documentation requests for new raw materials.
  • Controlling and coordinating the flavour library and liaise with Giotti commercial team on any NPD briefs.
  • Support Supplier Engagements & Raw Material Technical Consultancy
  • Support the SNR PD with supplier engagements.
  • Collaborate with PDTs with Customer Engagement for Raw Material Replacements Validations.
  • Partner with Suppliers to develop knowledge building and technology development platforms for current and new raw materials.
  • Support SNR PD with feedback to suppliers on project submissions and progress on an ongoing basis.
  • Consult Experts on raw material technical requirements (data, technical data, analytical data), to build technical expertise.
  • Lead submission of SAP Requests to GDA Master data for the R&D Team.
  • Input of Technical Information into Materials Master – New Raw Materials submitting to GDA, retrieving the code, verifying the information, circulating to the team for activation.
  • Submission of BOM Changes for R&D to GDA and timely communication to PDTs.
  • Submission of Mass/ Individual BOM Changes for raw material replacements on De-risk/ CCI/ Shortages & m Lab Raw Material Maintenance/ Stock Control.
  • Monitor laboratory stock of raw materials for allocated area and maintain stock levels at an appropriate level.
  • Maintain FIFO and monitor raw materials expiry date and are available to the laboratory for daily use.aintenance of SAP RD for inactivation of BOM changes
  • Management of the base stock used for respective customers by informing the R&D customer teams of requirements.  

 

  • Responsible for completing the relevant paperwork required for internal requests, as per the company’s ISO system requirements, ensuring that all information is captured correctly, and findings communicated to all relevant parties.

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Diploma/ B-Tech Degree - Food Technology, Biotechnology
  • B. Sc - Food Science or equivalent qualification
  • 3 years previous experience within the Food Industry preferred
  • Team Player – ability to interact cross-functionally
