Senior National Account Manager

Midrand, South Africa


We are currently looking for a Senior Account Manager to join us in our SA business unit. This role will fully develop, implement and commercially manage key accounts within our Flavour Solutions Business and report directly to the Head of Commercial.




  • Full P&L and KPI accountability for key customer accounts
  • Drive share growth and defend share through proactive range renovation
  • Define 3 year goals and next 12 month execution priorities in conjunction with other functions and teams
  • Drive execution of next 12 months priorities, at pace
  • Lead x-functional agenda, inclusive of governance and ways of working (e.g. Purchasing, R&D, Supply chain, Quality, Operations and Finance)
  • Maintain and promote a value-added service to ensure successful customer relationships.
  • Be part of a winning team



  • Independently implement and develop measures for success against business plan and report progress to customer and McCormick management
  • Operate cross functionally to ensure executional excellence through commercialisation and other cross-functions. Facilitate business to business relationships across functions
  • With Sales management and Commercial Finance involvement, develop customer pricing strategies to maximize business and profitability
  • Be viewed as a critical contact for McCormick and drive customer penetration through innovation and proactive customer intimacy.  Promote the Company's image, with special emphasis on confidence, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Manage relationships face to face where practicable, largely domestic, moderate travel within Africa
  • Demand forecast accuracy, low customer driven waste, debtors ledger managed
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure customer expected levels of finished goods and raw material stock are in place






  • Commercial food or beverage manufacturing experience
  • Business to Business experience with global food and beverage brands, ideal
  • Degree Educated - A graduate in a Business/Food Science or related discipline
  • P&L management experience, knowledge and acumen


  • Experience of working closely with technical functions (R&D & Quality) and supply chain (manufacturing, purchasing, planning)
  • Ability to drive valued added successful internal and external relationships
  • Tenacity to overcome obstacles to achieve results to timescales
  • Proven track record of delivery against stretching commitments
  • Self-starter who can make quick impact internally and externally, strong influencer and effective networker
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good organisation & time management skills
  • A passion for food
  • Ability to work cross functionally and influence people who are not direct reports
  • Business development experience
  • Understanding of the Sub-Sahara Africa region and market
