Senior Account Manager

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Build multi-dimensional customer relationships to secure growth opportunities and profitable sales in Africa with:

- a primary focus on dry flavours and seasonings,

- a secondary focus on custom seasonings/flavour systems and other ingredients.

Communicate effectively and efficiently with key customer contacts/functional areas and promote/facilitate communications and relationship building between McCormick contacts and their counterparts within appropriate functional groups Build excellent working relationships with McCormick Internal Sales Operations and Business Unit functional areas (and other functional areas as necessary) in order to meet customer objectives and drive efficient and successful closure of opportunities

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Develop and implement strategic and tactical business plans for Strategic and/or Critical customers within the territory and for all critical projects throughout the year, gaining approval with management and other key internal functional areas.

• Establish in-depth working customer relationships and manage activities at all levels within Purchasing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Finance, and other functional areas as necessary.

• Prioritize, manage, grow, and forecast opportunities within an innovation funnel in conjunction with internal Sales Operations and Business Unit functions to attain profitable sales growth.

• Accurately contribute to the volume/sales forecast of existing business based on direct customer input, business intelligence, analysis, and other factors.

• Implement customer pricing strategy to maximize profit as necessary.

• Be viewed as a critical contact for McCormick and drive customer penetration through innovation and proactive customer intimacy.

• Participation in flavour industry related events and associations.

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Food Science, or a related field.

 

Licenses

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

 

Experience

• 5+ years of B2B sales experience selling ingredients to health, nutrition, food, and beverage manufacturers.

• South African sales market experience preferred.

• Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system.

• Integrated Business Planning (IBP) experience preferred.

 

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

• Strong understanding of ingredient and product applications within customer manufacturing processes.

• Excellent business acumen and critical thinking skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

• Proven project management skills across sales cycles ranging from six weeks to eighteen months.

• Innovative mindset with the confidence to drive new initiatives and business growth.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to travel regularly for customer and business meetings.
