McCormick Canada is seeking a full time Category Manager on the Customer Category Management Team.  This new hire will work in McCormick’s Canadian Consumer Products Division, located in the Drew Road, Mississauga, ON office and report to the Sr Category Manager.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Category Manager is a critical role in the Sales organization, partnering with our customers to unlock growth through the execution of customer category strategies, particularly in areas of assortment, pricing, and shelving. The Category Manager acts as an enabler of strategic discussions by providing impactful insights and recommendations, opportunity identification and category thought leadership.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understanding industry, consumer and category trends and translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both McCormick and customer goals and objectives.
  • Providing proactive analysis and shopper insight-driven recommendations against all key business drivers, and leading presentations related to category business reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricing effectiveness, and category thought leadership.
  • Developing concise, compelling and actionable presentation content that resonates with both internal and external partners.
  • Leveraging all the analytic tools available to identify customer opportunities.
  • Developing collaborative partnerships with key strategic customers so that McCormick is viewed as the trusted leader in providing solutions and recommendations that drive growth for the categories in which we compete.
     

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or other related field

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 6+ years of relevant experience, preferably in retail analytics, category management, sales strategy or trade marketing roles 
  • Familiarity with the Category Management process. Must have strong knowledge of syndicated and panel data (e.g. Nielsen) as well as pricing, promotion and assortment optimization software, and experience working with customer syndicated data systems such as LDIA, Circana (formerly IRI), Dunnhumby, Retail Link
  • Although not required, planogram software experience (e.g. JDA) is an asset
  • Understands industry/CPG sector and competitive landscape

  • Strong analytic skills and demonstrated ability to translate insights into actionable business recommendations that deliver positive results
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences
  • High level strategic thinking as well as a broad category perspective
  • Ability to react quickly and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, self-motivated and team oriented
  • Creative problem solving in the dynamic environment of retailers that includes knowledge of retails, products, vendors, materials, and common category management practices
