McCormick & Co., Inc., a world leader in the spice, flavor & seasonings industry, is seeking a full time Commercial Finance Manager.  This new hire will be part of McCormick’s North America Food Away From Home, located at 2155 Drew Rd, Mississauga, ON.  The Commercial Finance Manager will report to FAFH North America Finance Director.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Finance Business Partner will drive improved decision making and delivery of business results by providing proactive forward-looking strategic, commercial and market insights to the Commercial business. The Finance Business Partner is the primary Finance interaction point for the commercial business – guiding, supporting, and mentoring the Commercial function to drive performance and deliver financial targets. The Finance Business partner will foster a two-way strategic relationship with the commercial function, constructively challenging and influencing their Commercial partners to deliver results. The Finance Business Partner will play an influential role in relevant management teams and steering group meetings supporting the delivery of initiatives and strategic alignment

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting and Analysis - Provides commentary and insight into business performance to drive understanding of month end results - Facilitates business ownership of the financial result and enables them to understand the actions they need to take to drive improved business performance - Provides commentary and insight to management reports, working with the commercial Finance team and other business stakeholder with relevant commercial, financial and market insights, assessing performance against business strategy and making recommendations on both strategy and operations to enhance financial performance
  • Business Planning - Facilitate the development of inputs and assumptions with the business for the budgeting and forecasting process, constructively challenging and influencing the business to take ownership and understand the impact of those assumptions - Facilitate the budgeting and forecasting process, supporting the business to own their assumptions and enabling them to understand the impact of those assumptions - Challenge and manage medium and short term plans for the business area with management, which support the overall corporate financial objectives - Works with Commercial to develop and challenge budgets and forecasts that are accurate, realistic, stretching and bought into supported by the FP&A/CoE - Works with business area to evaluate medium term plans – understanding current market position, opportunities for growth and potential barriers and competitor positioning
  • Pricing and Trade Spend - Work with Commercial Team and CoE on strategic and operational decision making for pricing and Trade Spend - Manages the development of pricing strategy for the business area, including insight and analysis - Provides insight and analysis to the business to maximize returns - Provides commercial insight to support the business in producing and managing promotional plans
  • Review financial models to assess future profitability of identified opportunities
  • Thorough analysis and development of new market opportunities based on current customer base and geographical coverage
  • Provide ad-hoc analyses and project support for initiatives across Commercial and Global Finance Team

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting
  • MBA is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of financial systems
  • SAP/BW/TM1 experience desirable
  • Significant experience in commercial finance, financial planning, and analysis with experience in CPG preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Power Point and Word required

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Motivated individual with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to layout the path to significant improvements
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and multi-task changing priorities.
  • Ability to work additional varied hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
