McCormick Canada is currently looking to hire a Sr Sales Planning Manager to join our Sales team.This position will be based out of the Mississauga, ON office. Reporting to the Director of Sales Planning and Insights, the Sr Sales Planning Manager is the strategic, cross functional lead and primary link between sales and brand marketing. This role will work closely with sales and marketing to develop, analyze and execute customer plans designed to maximize volume, market share and profit while leveraging brand strategies. Providing critical leadership includes across annual account planning and translating the strategic direction from marketing plans into specific sales strategies and customer materials for sales. In addition, the role is the interface between Sales and Marketing to lead strategic Trade promotion plan development and deployment, problem-solve and develop Trade promotion strategies that support and drive national business objectives. A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate big-picture thinking while leaning on past experiences to deliver executable, detailed strategies. An entrepreneurial mindset and ownership attitude are critical to achieving results.  


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and lead the National Sales Planning process with providing support to sales to ensure McCormick annual goals and key strategies are integrated into the plans
  • Formalize Sales Key Initiatives with goals for fiscal along with providing leadership over performance tracking. Includes being the driving force behind Sales Strategy, Promotional Guidelines, and Excellence in Execution ensuring marketing plans and 4P strategies are being executed in market
  • Translate and manage strategic direction from Marketing plans (annual and ad hoc) into specific strategies for Sales along with National head office sell-in presentations (including for innovation)
  • Develop tools for the sales team including Category Vision and Strategy presentations, sell sheets, point of sale material, & customer programs. 
  • With support from the Revenue Management team, create the promotional guidelines and analyze 4Ps in order to deliver Sales Performance Goals [i.e. Set Sales Guidelines: Pricing Strategy, Promotional Plans, SKU priority] Drive execution of 4P fundamentals across all McCormick categories.
  • Develop and coordinate all Sales and Customer initiatives/plans related to new product introductions and new in store initiatives (e.g. shelf reinvention projects).
  • Attend customer meetings with sales team to deliver customized customer programs as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis on Business, Marketing or Finance is preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years of branded CPG industry experience in Sales (Account Management), Category or Customer Insights
  • Strong cross functional experience and expertise including marketing/strategy, consumer/shopper insights, trade fundamentals, sales drivers and category management.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of trade spend drivers and measurements
  • Must have experience analyzing POS data, specifically Nielsen
  • Be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of customer databases including IRI, Dunhumby, RetailLink, Precima
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with cross functional partners (Sales, Marketing, Sales Planning and Insights team, Finance, McCormick global partners)
  • Ability to translate numbers into strong customer stories and relevant insights
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
