POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will provide financial expertise to the North America Commercial Finance teams. The analyst will act as a key business partner by providing or leading complex and interpretive financial analysis and reports. Additional responsibilities will include consolidation reporting, providing analysis and insight related to key commercial finance activities and managing US Consumer prepack P&Ls and reporting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Serving as a key business partner to support the commercial team’s short-term projects and long-term strategic initiatives
  • Participating in business planning and providing data-based analytics to offer actionable insights to assist in key decision making
  • Providing monthly business reporting, analysis, and insights versus forecast, budget and prior year
  • Coordinating with a wide variety of cross functional business partners to develop inputs for financial modelling
  • Developing, managing, analyzing and communicating complex financial models for business team P&L’s, new product launches, promotional programs, pricing actions and ad hoc projects
  • Using critical thinking in the decision-making process to draw upon professional experience, market and industry knowledge, data and intuition
  • Interacting with cross-functional teams and various management levels within McCormick and presenting to high-level audience
  • Utilizing best practice financial reporting to meet the needs of the functional leaders, external authorities and the stakeholders of the Company
  • Utilizing systems to improve analytics and processes to drive data-based insights

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business required, MBA/CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis preferred.
  • Experience participating on projects, supporting finance initiatives with the business, preferred.
  • Experience with transaction & reporting systems including, but not limited to SAP, Business Warehouse, TM1, Power BI or other local systems preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities required.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial and analytical techniques preferred and the capability to plan own work and respect deadlines required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make judgments based on analysis of fact-based information, practice and previous experience/reasonable assumptions required.
  • Strong proven knowledge of financial accounting standards
  • Excellent interpersonal (written and verbal) communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions & cultures and interact and in some cases present to multiple levels of the organization required.
  • Demonstrated ability of being a dynamic self-starter, to work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete and/or ambiguous information required and to proactively initiate action steps required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once, work under pressure, apply judgment and ask for aid in prioritizing as applicable required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and Power BI Skills required.
  • Knowledge of SAP and S4 design, transactions, R3 and BW reporting capabilities highly preferred
