We are seeking an innovative Senior Product Development Technologist to join our dynamic Research and Development team based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.  This role will report to the Product Development Manager with primary responsibilities in new product development and existing product improvement projects for our Gourmet Garden business.  The role requires interactions with key stakeholders in cross-functional teams to execute technical research activities and new product development projects from farm to plate.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years industry experience in the food manufacturing industry and is craving a variety of multinational new product development projects and markets to add their flavour too!

Role Responsibilities   

  • Development of new products and processes in herbs, spices and seasonings.
  • Source, trial & implement new packaging solutions
  • Conduct formulation optimization and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work with a cross functional team to execute NPD activities, production trials and process validation within a fresh agricultural supply chain.
  • Conduct raw material, formula and packaging approvals as required by the new product development procedures.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning the application of new ingredients or processing technologies
  • Prepare the technical documentation required for specifications, labelling and processing parameters as well as provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Technical Skills & Experience Required    

  • Degree qualified in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience FMCG Product Development with experience in fresh produce highly regarded.
  • In depth knowledge of FSANZ and strong technical ability in interpreting food regulations.
  • High attention to detail, ability to adapt and problem solve to deliver technical and innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead the technical functions of NPD projects.  
  • Strong communication skills with experience working in cross-functional teams and project management and the ability to schedule work & meetings across international time zones. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.  SAP and Hamilton Grant knowledge is highly recommended.
