Project Engineer

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Support the Engineering team in the design, development, purchase, installation, commissioning, start-up, operation, maintenance and improvement of machinery, support systems, building and infrastructure

• Contribute to developing technical solutions, under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, production and ergonomics requirements

• Contribute to operational improvement and continuous improvement activities across the site.

• Support preliminary design meetings with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the definition of technical specifications.

• Assist in the preparation of project budgets, cost estimates and expense tracking, ensuring alignment with approved spending limits.

• Support the preparation of CAAPs in accordance with best practice procedures.

• Follow up with suppliers and support the coordination of internal and external stakeholders during project execution.

• Support the execution and documentation of FAT and SAT activities, checking equipment performance against agreed requirements.

• Assist in the coordination with inspection bodies and relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.

• Support the planning and coordination of training activities for factory users and maintenance teams.

• Monitor the ramp-up of new installations and support troubleshooting activities until target performance is achieved.

• Participate in the optimization of existing equipment and contribute to the continuous improvement of industrial sites.

• Develop effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal teams.

• Work in close collaboration with the Factory, Purchasing, Marketing, Copacking, Packaging, R&D, Finance, HR, HSE, Supply Chain and other relevant functions.

 

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

• Higher education in the field of engineering: mechanical, chemical, industrial or process engineering

• Preferably with few years’ experience in engineering, project engineering, manufacturing, maintenance or industrial operations (preferably in FMCG, food, specialty flavours, chemical or pharmaceutical industry).

• Interest in developing project management skills within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Basic technical knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, utilities and industrial equipment.

• Knowledge of safety principles and willingness to develop expertise in industrial safety standards, including ATEX risk management where applicable.

• Basic understanding of the main phases of a capital project: feasibility, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, start-up and handover.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, layouts, P&IDs or equipment documentation

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical and hands-on mindset.

• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks with appropriate supervision.

• Software: AutoCAD & Microsoft Office tools.

• Language: Italian fluent, English fluent

Compensation: starting from € 41.600 gross per year.

 

Final salary will be determined as part of any final offer and will consider factors such as skills, education, role-specific experience, and internal equity among current employees.

McCormick ensures compensation is determined in line with the principle of equal pay for work of equal value, regardless of gender.

The CCNL classification will be defined during the selection process based on the candidate’s profile.

Employment Terms and conditions will be governed by Italian National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL) for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry.
