POSITION OVERVIEW
This Category Manager II supporting the Geography team is a critical role in the Sales organization, supporting the development of account strategy, particularly in areas of assortment, pricing, shelving. This role will be working with regional grocery customers on our Geography team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understanding industry, consumer and category trends and translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both McCormick and customer goals and objectives
- Providing proactive analysis and shopper insight driven recommendations against all key business drivers, and leading presentations related to category business reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricing effectiveness, and trade efficiency
- Leveraging all the analytic tools available to identify customer opportunities
- Developing collaborative partnerships with key strategic customers so that McCormick is viewed as the category leader in providing flavor solutions and category recommendations for the categories in which we compete
- Manage and develop analysts on the team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or other related field
- 6+ years of experience in Sales, Finance, Marketing or Business Management
- 4+ years of experience customer/sales experience, including 2+ years in Category Management
- Strong knowledge of syndicated POS and panel data (IRI, Nielsen, etc.)
- Familiarity with pricing, promotion and assortment optimization software and experience working with customer-specific data systems (84.51, Symphony RetailAI, dunnhumby, etc.)
- Strong analytic skills and demonstrated ability to translate insights into actionable business recommendations that deliver positive results
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences
- Ability to react quickly and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams, self-motivated and team oriented
- Understanding of Field Sales and Retailer process in business analytics as well as distribution obstacles is a benefit
- Creative problem solving in the dynamic environment as it relates to retail execution
