Position Overview

Develop flavor systems to meet customer’s requirements. Interface with customer’s innovation team and assist in responding to specific project requests.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and assisting in the development of flavors and evaluating new ingredients with limited supervision.
  • Commercialization of products (understanding of processes and operations for product manufacture) and trouble shooting problems.
  • Project Management- Defining and assessing project requirements.
  • Investigating and assessing new ingredients and technologies.
  • Provide technical support for other internal groups within McCormick.
  • Interface and communicate project status with customers and commercial team.

 

Required Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years flavor lab experience is required with BSc.
  • Knowledge of flavor raw material physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics and the ability to create flavors with minimal supervision, based on specific requirements. Solid understanding of ingredients and technology involved with flavor formulation and stability.
  • Knowledge of flavor industry ingredients, manufacturing processes, quality assurance
  • programs and food regulations . Proficient in development and commercialization of favors for various application categories.

 

Role Dimensions:

Responsible for up to $1 million in new product sales and achieving Hit Rate targets. Intellectual curiosity, flexibility, demonstrated aptitude for complexity, and innovative imagination. Able to interpret customer descriptions of desired/undesired attributes and outline development(s) to achieve attributes. Able to relate aroma and taste attributes of raw materials with flavor formation in food systems. Must be professional and able to represent McCormick well in front of customers. Manage vendors while maintaining McCormick ethical standards. Accuracy of work and communication directly impacts business success. Impacts own team, department, function, business unit, and manufacturing.
