POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Team Manager, the Sanitation Crew Leader is responsible for managing an effective sanitation program for the sanitation auditors and sanitors.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, and sanitation to achieve business goals.
  • Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Coaches, trains, and ensures compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people.
  • Coordinates sanitors to assure appropriate coverage for the plant including the coordination & scheduling of vacation requests & overtime.
  • Under the guidance of leadership, manages new employee and annual refresher training program for department sanitors.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, scheduling, training, and auditing of Sanitation skills for all technicians including skills checklists, chemical training, sanitation equipment training, and basics of sanitation training.
  • Creates, validates, trains, and annually reviews, independently or as a team member, Sanitation SOP’s including department specific cleaning procedures and changeover SOPs.
  • Collaborates with Team Managers and Scheduling to define sanitation activities and resources needed to ensure completion of Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).  Audits MSS and completes corrective actions on issues identified.  Updates MSS annually.
  • Validates cleaning effectiveness for products and equipment to ensure conformity to company and plant standards using equipment inspections, procedure audits, microbiological swabbing, allergen swabbing, chemical concentration checks, flow rate measurements, and cycle time/temperature checks.
  • Maintains required records, reports, and electronic systems i.e., daily sanitation schedules, MSS, chemical concentrations, SDS’s.
  • Maintains sanitation equipment and calibrations; maintains records, implements corrective actions on deviations, and trains technicians as required.
  • Supports Integrated Pest Management Program with investigation, cleaning, and other activities as needed.
  • Supports the Environmental Monitoring Program with swabbing, sanitizing, special events as needed.

 

REQURIED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year experience performing sanitation activities in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience understanding financial impact of business decision affecting staffing, product components and inventory.
  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives
  • Ability to coach, train and influence while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment.  Must be able to recognize problems; analyze problems by collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions; and offer solutions.
  • Demonstrated data entry and basic PC skills required, including familiarity with SAP, Word, and Excel. 
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but also work effectively as a part of a team.
  • Flexibility to support / train on all three shifts with ability to work overtime (daily and weekly) as necessary.
  • Ability to work occasionally at heights of up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to walk and stand during the work shift while frequently lifting weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maneuver around equipment, climb stairs, and climb ladders to access varies equipment and infrastructure areas.
