Senior Packaging Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Technical Lead II will be responsible for leading project teams to deliver vertical start-ups in the French’s Plant. This includes CAAP projects, other equipment installation, material changes, CCI initiatives and innovation projects as assigned. Using Change Management, EEM Work Processes and Project Management tools, this role will work attain the speed to market objectives in the Americas Supply chain. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Owns, develops, implements, and manages the Start Up Management plan for CAAP, Innovation, CCI, Pack Transformation and business critical projects in the Supply Chain, using the Early Equipment Management (EEM) tools, Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Preventative Maintenance (PM), Technology Transfer and Training (TT&T) and Visual Factory (5S) standards.
  • Works with Start Up Coordinator and Engineering from Project Ideation to Closeout and ensure a vertical start-up of all CAAP projects, and similarly works with Commercial Project team members, to ensure that NPCs, Cancel / Supersedes, Data Validations are executed for all new products and line extensions from the Consumer, Club, Food Service, Private Label, Subcon and Co-pack products to ensure vertical startups.
  • Supports Business Transformation change management needs for the French’s and the America’s Supply Chain manufacturing plants, when needed, including process enhancements, transaction development/termination, training, Go-Lives and site support to optimize processes.
  • Leads CAAP projects and innovation as Start Up Leader using the Commissioning-Qualification-Verification (CQV) process. Ensure that all documentation is updated and complete. Including VSU Scorecard, Readiness Checklists (MRCL/FRCL), Defect Prevention Checklist (DPCL), Start Up Management (SUM) plan, TT&T plan and Operational Qualification/Production Qualification (OQ/PQ) checklists.
  • Uses EEM learnings to develop and co lead the Early Product Management System to feed into the Change Management and Innovation Framework to execute Initiatives effectively with a vertical start up and to attain speed to market.
  • Collaborates with business functions including Operations, Engineering, Packaging Development, Procurement, Commercialization, CCI, Supply Chain and the Project Management Office (PMO) to drive change, deliver vertical start-ups and drive positive business results.
  • Works with MAC/ FFU teams to evaluate new materials and packaging for MAC testing for assigned projects to ensure reliability of inputs into the Operation and to meet project timelines.
  • Communicate project status updates to leadership Change Control meetings as needed. Updates cross-functional executive leadership on the status of projects at Steering Committees (e.g. Supply Chain Steering committees), as required.
  • Analyze/interpret data and other factors such as cost, capacity, risk and other constraints to determine feasibility of new requests from Project Initiation Forms (PIF’s/EPIF’s). Able to develop cost, scope and schedule options for sponsors to make the most informed decisions regarding project options.
  • Uses standard change management and change control processes during start-ups and works with process engineering and the operational teams on loss analysis and JTE projects.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Science or related field
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing facility or business environment leading Change, Initiative or Engineering Projects in while working in roles such as, Manufacturing Technical Leader, Start Up Leader, Team Manager, Project Manager/Process Engineer. Must have a proven track record of successfully delivering results in a fast past/dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and complete business changes resulting from process/business improvements, commercial, scale up or capital projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/proficiency of manufacturing systems/software such as SAP, Infinity QS, TrakSYS, Maximo and HP Print Systems are required. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels, and ability to collaboratively work in and promote a diverse high-performance organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and drive change in the supply chain. Including process/business improvements, commercialization, innovation, scale up or capital projects.
  • Excellent presentations skills and experience presenting to executives and senior leadership required.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in High Performance Organizations such as TPM, Early Equipment Management, People Change Management, Change Control Process, Lean and Six Sigma concepts and Visual Factory (5S) with demonstrated use of tools and methodologies.
  • Very strong written communication and project reporting skills.
  • Strong influencing capability, diplomacy, and partnering skills that grow business relationships and guide business partners to the best solutions.
  • Change Management / Control - Understands people change management, change control process and can use change management tools to lead organizational change.
  • EEM Tools -  Must have a good understanding of EEM tools including Project Establishment, RCL’s, RAMP, KIL, TT&T, LFPE, DPCL, and SUM or similar and has demonstrated the use in Commercial, Capital or CCI Initiatives.
  • Supervisory skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP – Project Management Professional, Qualified EEM Tool Owner
  • Knowledge of best practices of High Performance Organizations and in World Class operational management systems e.g. TPM, Lean, Six Sigma.
  • Computer software skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project (preferred).
  • Project Management -  Ability to lead large innovation, change and CAAP projects while meeting schedule, scope and cost constraints. Microsoft Project knowledge preferred.
  • Language Skill - Working knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
