We are looking to hire a QA Team Manager II opening immediately based out of our French's Foods Manufacturing Plant in Springfield, Missouri.

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for managing and directing activities that include product quality and defect management, managing a QA Technician/Lab Team to meet the needs of internal and external customers while achieving key indicator results that support business goals. The person is responsible for managing the supplies and labor budget. A core responsibility is to develop the team to their fullest potential through HPO. The person initiates and leads process improvement initiatives, PDCA, root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates a vision for the team that is in alignment with McCormick and the production facility 10%
- Leads team by applying situational leadership, coaching, facilitation, presentation, role playing (feedback & conflict management) skills and leveraging established processes of JTE 10%
- Uses the HPO Systems (Goal Setting, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Training & Development, Information Systems, Rewards & Recognitions) to empower and develop their teams using established HPO systems, core beliefs, guiding principles and 10%
- Leads failure analysis when required for failures (including near miss and actual incidents). Participates in planning for technological and engineering 15%
- Performs evaluations and creates development/training plans for individuals within the team and manages employee relations. Actively uses PDPs to document and facilitate improvement/recognition discussions. Manages compensation process for team and recommends wage increases for high performers (pay for performance) 20%
- Develops and ensures all procedures and best practices are documented and creates an atmosphere of 100% compliance to operational processes and procedures and continuous improvement using TWI, SPC, SQC, VSM & PDCA (problem solving) methodologies and established principals, including GMPs and other guidelines to ensure safety and sanitation 15%
- Qualifies CBA/Centerlines in partnership with Process Technicians and Production Teams 10%
- Leads problem solving events and process improvement using RCA and CAPA tools 10%
Required Qualifications:
Level of Education and Discipline: BSc in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or other technical degree
Experience - functional/industry/commercia l knowledge, business acumen: 4 years of management or leadership experience, at least 2 of which in a processing or production / industrial environment, preferably in a quality role. Must understand the importance of Cost of Quality and JTE processes. Must understand the critical service role of QA within the production environment. Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise resource tools an asset. Strong understanding of how own area integrates with other areas and co-ordinates to contribute to the achievement of goals through influence.
Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence: Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate, set targets and drive sustained results. Strong leadership and training skills. High cross function engagement to solve quality production problems
Other Skills and HPO Competencies: Food Safety and Quality Programs and Standards; Consensus Building; Cross-Functional Influence; Excellent Microsoft Suite Skills for communication of technical knowledge. Full supervisor responsibilities, contributing to the motivation/development of team through professional leadership and ensuring team members are motivated and capable of delivering a high level of performance. Leadership includes setting objectives, coaching employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification and/or Licenses: FSPCA (PCQI), ASQ certification (CHA, CQE) or Six Sigma Black Belt
Dimension:
Supports broad team of technicians whose activities impact various departments across shifts at the plant level such as warehouse, receiving, operations (including blending, filling or packaging lines). Responsible for technicians and their development in at least 3 or more of the following areas: analytical, raw material testing, PepsiCo sensory, microbiology, line auditing, and/or sanitation skills/programming. High level of problem investigation of all quality notification issues. High level of complex, ambiguous problems that can be time sensitive and multi-disciplinary. Impacts productivity and customer relations concerning complaint responses. Leads team through new concepts and testing procedures. Expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through influence, negotiation, application of technical experience, knowledge of McCormick and/or Regulatory standards, ability to shift resources/needs, and review of precedents. Shared responsibility for decisions that directly impact quality, service and cost of goods produced in the manufacturing process, whether through interaction with vendors, internal departments, direct labor, or equipment. The impact of the job is on their own team and other teams whose work activities are closely related which can include the entire manufacturing site. The performance of the team will be directly affected by the performance of the individual.
