Position Overview

The Warehouse Department Manager, Zone 3 is responsible for leading a complex, multi-shift warehouse operation supporting Industrial Flavor Solutions customers, internal manufacturing facilities, and finished goods handling. This role oversees the storage, movement, labeling, re-labeling, unloading, and transport of raw materials and finished goods across a high-volume operational zone.

This position provides leadership for approximately 60 non-exempt employees, two exempt employees, and contracted agency partners supporting container unloading, product labeling and re-labeling, and material transport across warehouse zones. The Warehouse Department Manager is accountable for ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and reliable warehouse operations across three shifts and weekend activity.

The role requires strong operational leadership, people management, cross-functional partnership, and the ability to manage specialty storage environments, including organic, hazardous materials, refrigerated storage, and temperature-controlled areas.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily warehouse operations for Zone 3 across three shifts and weekends, ensuring effective execution of operational priorities.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, handling, movement, and shipment of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Support Industrial Flavor Solutions customers and internal manufacturing operations by ensuring timely and accurate supply of raw materials to production facilities.
  • Manage container unloading operations for PCC’s and Simply Asia finished goods.
  • Ensure operational readiness and staffing coverage across shifts, including off-shift and weekend operations as required.
  • Monitor daily performance, resolve operational issues, and drive improvements in safety, quality, service, cost, and productivity.

 

People Leadership

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for approximately 60 non-exempt employees and two exempt employees.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing, engaged, accountable, and inclusive team environment.
  • Set clear expectations, monitor performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Partner with Human Relations, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance and Facilities, Safety, Quality, and other functional leaders to support employee engagement, workforce planning, attendance, training, and performance management.
  • Promote strong communication across all shifts to ensure consistent execution of standards, priorities, and expectations.

 

Contractor and Agency Management

  • Lead and coordinate contracted agency resources supporting container unloading, product labeling and re-labeling, and material transport.
  • Ensure contracted partners follow site safety, quality, GMP, food safety, security, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and partner with appropriate stakeholders to address service, compliance, staffing, or productivity concerns.
  • Safety, Quality, and Compliance
  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of materials in specialty storage areas, including:
    • Organic storage areas
    • Hazardous materials storage
    • Refrigerated storage
    • Temperature-controlled storage areas
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, quality, GMP, sanitation, allergen control, organic handling, hazardous material, and temperature-control requirements.
  • Lead or support audits, inspections, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure employees and contractors are properly trained and qualified for assigned work.

 

Inventory, Materials, and Service Execution

  • Ensure accurate material movement, storage, labeling, and inventory control practices.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Customer Service, Transportation, and other stakeholders to meet business and customer needs.
  • Support reliable supply of raw materials to manufacturing facilities while minimizing delays, errors, damage, and service disruptions.
  • Drive disciplined execution of warehouse processes, standard work, and system transactions.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve warehouse flow, labor utilization, equipment usage, service reliability, and cost performance.
  • Use operational metrics and root cause analysis to address recurring issues and improve performance.
  • Support site initiatives related to productivity, process standardization, employee capability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead change effectively in a complex, fast-paced, multi-shift environment.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Prior leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience leading large teams in a multi-shift operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead both exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Experience managing safety, quality, productivity, and service performance in an operational setting.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and influence across departments.
  • Ability to support flexible work hours as needed, including off-shift and weekend operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food, flavor, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with specialty storage requirements, such as organic, hazardous materials, refrigerated, or temperature-controlled storage.
  • Knowledge of GMP, food safety, sanitation, allergen control, and quality systems.
  • Experience managing contractor or temporary labor agency resources.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems, ERP systems, inventory control processes, and operational performance metrics.
  • Continuous improvement experience, such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar methodologies.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily based in a warehouse and operations environment.
  • Regular presence required on the warehouse floor.
  • Must be able to support operations across three shifts and weekends as business needs require.
  • Exposure to warehouse equipment, material handling activity, refrigerated areas, temperature-controlled environments, hazardous material storage areas, and other specialty storage conditions.
  • Must follow all required safety, food safety, quality, GMP, and site procedures.

Base Salary: $103,520 - $181,150

 

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
