We are looking to hire a Distribution Manager III to join the team based at our Maryland Logistics Center (MLC) in Sparrows Point, Maryland.

Position Overview:

Under general direction of the Director II Logistics, the Distribution Manager III is responsible for all operations within the Maryland Distribution and Warehousing. Leading the operational direction of Distribution to assure Company delivers lowest possible cost, developing a culture of continuous improvement through process improvement and enhancing employee skills and capabilities. As a member of the North America Logistics/Distribution Operations Leadership Team, the Distribution Manager participates with other Supply Chain Leaders in the overall planning, coordination and control of business initiatives and will be a critical leader of the Journey to Excellence (JTE); the integration of High Performance Work Systems (HPWS) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) into the Maryland Logistic Center. In addition, the position will ensure the distribution organization is integrated with appropriate development and succession plans. This extends to 3PL providers be insuring they are integrated into the McCormick operating Philosophies. In conjunction with the North American Logistics Director, assists with strategy and program development to achieve “Best in Class” in the above categories and by delivering cost optimization, risk mgmt., process standardization, people development and motivation and meeting annual Corporate objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prioritize, plans, and directs the execution of operational related issues through the Operations Managers and Department Managers. Designs strategies, procedures, and people utilization for improving reliability, efficiency, productivity, and performance while reducing inventory and waste. Also maintains product quality and meets operating expenses. Responsible for the execution of operational plans for the Maryland Logistic Center function, including but not limited to Budget Delivery & CCI, which supports the achievement of North American Supply Chain & Business Unit strategic objectives through the establishment of sustainable operating strategies, goals and key performance indicators.
  • Creating an empowered environment through an McHPS that will ensure the Operations and Organization and its people understand the goals and objective (OGSM's) of the business. Ensure that they have the resources and management support to accomplish their goals. Provide an environment which ensures and provides for open and healthy communications. Develops and coach direct reports to include development plans and participates in the creation of succession plan for key roles. Also develops and maintains strong relationships within the Logistics organization by providing coaching and development of management staff and employee's.
  • Provides leadership support for the North American Logistics organization – consisting of initiative sequencing, resource management, involvement in long term plan creation and refreshment and service as champion of programs. Analyze performance and initiate actions to correct deviations from schedules, cost, and other factors. Establish and maintain comprehensive continuous improvement processes that maximize productivity, reliability, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and maintain strong functional relationships with Corporate Sourcing, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, etc. to ensure new products are in the Logistic Center on time and in specifications to meet customer demand.
  • Assures compliance of all DC’s operations with organizational policies and procedures and national, regional and local regulations (Audit Ready). Assures a safe working environment ensuring that all employees understand their role and commitment to the safe operation of the facility.
  • Direct oversight for 3PL’s supporting the Maryland Logistic Center.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or Procurement would be highly desirable. 6 additional years of relevant experience required in lieu of degree.
  • 6+ year’s experience in a Logistics/Supply Chain environment with appropriate business and leadership experience.
  • 2 + years project management, execution of or participation in large, multiple or cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of North American Logistics industry and networks.
  • Proven experience and success in leading teams, good collaboration skills and ability to support organizational change, negotiate and influence.
  • Experience managing 3rd parties.
  • Ability to design supply chain metrics to drive performance and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Influencing, negotiating, building relationships, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Logistics software and SAP within the Food Products/Food Manufacturing environment.

 

Base Salary: $140,610-253,080

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Sales Incentive Bonus (SIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Dividend Program.
