Facilities Maintenance

McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Facilities Mechanic on 1st shift. This new hire will work in Sparrows Point at the McCormick Logistics Center, located at 7021 Tradepoint Ave in Sparrows Point, MD. The Facilities Mechanic will report to a Maintenance Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for completing basic electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance of all HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration) systems and equipment. The Facilities Mechanic will provide support for the facilities to include but not be limited to; machinery and equipment installation, preventative maintenance, painting and other work assignments as needed. Daily functions of this role may consist of lock out machinery, changing filters and painting. The work schedule for this role will be Monday thru Friday 6 AM to 2 PM.

Key responsibilities for this person will be but not inclusive:

  1. Perform cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of material handling equipment
  2. Filter changes on HVAC units
  3. Visual inspection of equipment
  4. Facility / equipment painting
  5. Interfacing with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System)
  6. Labelling of equipment per visual factory 5s standards
  7. Stocking and inventory count as needed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Basic understanding of building systems (Code Blue Phones, HVAC, Intercom, etc.)
  • Experience in Preventive Maintenance practices
  • Ability to obtain Forklift license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Industrial painting experience (in a food processing facility preferred).
  • Ability and desire to learn and develop within the role
  • Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and squat on a continuous basis
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to business needs
  • Proficiency in the use of shop tools (e.g. drills, saws, grinders, and presses)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of grades, types and toxicities of paints and related products such as paint removers, cleaners, and other coatings.
  • Experience with surface preparation including paint removal, scraping, sanding, and masking.                            
  • Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets, complies with GMP’s, and perform Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.               
  • Mechanical ability to disassemble/reassemble equipment for painting.
