Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for developing business communications on behalf of McCormick. This position is the primary business writer for McCormick’s corporate voice. The role includes preparing company announcements, leading the copy development of the Company’s Annual Report,, supporting executive speech writing and social media voice for various Sr. Level Executives, , developing timely proactive or reactive crisis stand by statements for critical key audiences, reviewing and approving all requests to speak on behalf of McCormick, working with functional business partners including Investor Relations, Government Affairs, and other stakeholders on the strategic development of formal company presentations and messaging, communicating on behalf of the company to retirees, working with Global Employee Communications leads to incorporate company news into employee platforms, and overseeing company archives.
The Strategic Communications Manager will be responsible for delivering high quality strategic business writing services to critical stakeholders. Exceptional project management capabilities, superior business writing capabilities, and strategic leadership skills will be keys to success.
Key Responsibilities
• Writing and preparing Company announcements, leading the copy development of the Company’s Annual Report, and preparing proactive and reactive standby statements for key stakeholders.
• Key business speechwriter and voice for select Sr. level Executive across internal and external platforms.
• Primary business writing partner for Investor Relations, Government Affairs and other functional business partner in developing strategic communications on behalf of the Company
• .Partner with Employee Communications team to incorporate Company news into employee communications and platforms and oversees the Corporate archives.
Required Qualifications
- BA Communications, Marketing
- 7+ years broad experience in professional writing Marketing/Communications.
- Requires excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Must possess superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated history of sucessful influence and partnership across functions and multiple levels within the organization.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the food industry including competitors.
- Must be able to lead and influence without direct authority.
- Must be an exceptional strategic thought leader, communicator and influencer.
- Must be able to work across functions, in a highly matrix environment.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Must demonstrate customer orientation, ensureing deadlines are met for key stakeholders
- Must take initiative to work through challenges and make recommendations
- Must perform well under pressure for big events, complex issues

Base Salary: $103,520 - 181,150.
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
