Senior Packaging Development Technologist
The Senior Product Development Technologist leads and manages packaging development projects across the Southeast Asia (SEA) region for the strategic Consumer and Flavour Solutions business segment.
This role is accountable for delivering robust, compliant, and fit-for-purpose packaging solutions, overseeing all aspects of packaging development from initial concept through to commercialization.
The position supports a broad portfolio of initiatives, including new product launches, artwork development and changes, cost-savings projects, re-engineering activities, and process improvements.
The role also plays a key part in innovation and sustainability initiatives, ensuring packaging solutions align with business, regulatory, and sustainability objectives.
Key responsibilities include packaging design and specification development, supplier and stakeholder collaboration, technical evaluation, and project execution while ensuring timelines, quality, and cost targets are met. The role is also responsible for accurate packaging-related PLP reporting and for supporting continuous improvement across packaging systems and processes
Key Roles & Responsiblities
Lead end‑to‑end packaging development from concept through commercialization, defining scope, timelines, and deliverables aligned with business needs. Drive technical decisions, manage risks, and ensure scale‑up and launch readiness. Oversee specifications, documentation, and PLP reporting, while providing strategic direction on packaging innovation, technology, and capability building.
Design, develop, and optimize primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging to ensure product protection, shelf‑life integrity, and consumer usability. Lead material selection based on product and distribution requirements. Execute packaging trials, line tests, and performance validations to ensure manufacturing compatibility. Drive continuous improvement through data‑driven performance analysis and external benchmarking.
Identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities through material optimization, specification harmonization, and value engineering. Lead re‑engineering and productivity initiatives to improve line efficiency, reduce waste, and increase OEE. Partner with procurement and suppliers to assess alternative materials and secure cost‑effective solutions without compromising quality or performance.
Serve as the primary packaging representative in cross‑functional teams, partnering with R&D, QA, Operations, Procurement, Marketing, and external suppliers. Clearly communicate technical requirements, timelines, and risks to drive alignment and execution. Enable seamless stakeholder collaboration to deliver projects successfully, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members as needed
Ensure packaging compliance with food safety, regulatory, and labeling requirements across all target markets. Monitor and interpret regional and global packaging regulations to proactively manage risk. Lead sustainability initiatives focused on material reduction, recyclability, and adoption of sustainable alternatives. Support corporate compliance and sustainability goals through robust documentation and audit readiness.
Build strategic partnerships with suppliers and industry experts to adopt emerging materials and technologies that elevate packaging performance and business impact.
Lead the evaluation and strategic sourcing of packaging materials by balancing regulatory compliance, total cost of ownership, and supply reliability, while managing MOQ and lead-time constraints and partnering with suppliers to drive long-term innovation and value creation

BSc in Packaging Technology/Food Science/Materials Science, |

Minimum Experience Required |
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in packaging development background |

Certifications and/or Licenses |
HACCP and GMP certifications and Food Safety training |
