QUALIFICATIONS:*
- Acceptable attendance required.
- Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
- Bachelor or Associate degree in science preferred. Taken college chemistry course preferred. Relevant experience will be considered.
- Food, drug or cosmetic manufacturing laboratory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated data entry skills as well as basic PC skills required.
- Must be able to read reports, paperwork with small print, copy sequences onto paper, key information into terminal.
- Must be able to record numbers; fill out forms in an accurate and legible manner.
- Must be able to perform complex math problems (i.e. calculate percentage, ppm) in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Knowledge of statistical process control preferred.
- Must be able to recognize problems, analyze them and offer solutions; use logical thought processes when making decisions.
- Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to work well and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and with internal and external customers as required.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision but also as a part a team.
- Must be able to utilize all senses in evaluating products, especially color perception, taste and smell (performs tests dealing with appearance, aroma and flavor).
- Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices and established Safety standards.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and multiple tasks.
- Must be able to work overtime (daily and weekend) on short notice.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (90%) of shift and lift 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work in an environment where fumes, odors, and dust are constant.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Lab Manager and Quality Control Workleader, individual is responsible for inspection, sampling, testing and associated paperwork of raw materials and finished products. Accuracy is essential. In addition to performing testing, the technician will be called upon to identify causes of problems and propose solutions as he/she gains experience.
