Platform Engineer

The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud solutions and automation frameworks that enable efficient software delivery and platform reliability. This role involves developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ensuring scalable and secure Kubernetes operations, and optimizing cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency. The engineer collaborates closely with Cloud Solutions Architects and Software Developers to enable seamless deployment, observability, and resilience of cloud-native applications.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud Platform Engineering & Infrastructure Management
- Deliver and maintain hybrid and multi-cloud serverless solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
- Ensure platform scalability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency by implementing best practices in cloud service configurations and automation.
- Provision, manage, and troubleshoot core cloud infrastructure components as needed.
DevOps & Continuous Delivery Automation
- Manage CI/CD platforms and code repositories, and develop automated pipelines for application deployment and infrastructure provisioning, while promoting GitOps for declarative infrastructure.
- Automate testing, security scanning, and compliance validation within software delivery pipelines, supporting Software Developers in adoption of DevSecOps best practices.
Kubernetes & Container Orchestration
- Implement containerized workloads and microservices architectures.
- Deploy and maintain Kubernetes clusters, managing container networking, storage, security, and scaling.
Security, Compliance & Operational Resilience
- Implement cloud security baselines based on industry frameworks, while promoting immutable infrastructure principles to enhance system integrity, prevent configuration drift, and improve security posture.
- Implement monitoring, logging, incident response, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions to maintain operational resilience and ensure proactive issue resolution.
Innovation, Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending enhancements to platform engineering capabilities and driving continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) by sharing best practices, innovation ideas, and operational enhancements.
- Optimize cloud solutions for performance and cost efficiency through rightsizing, auto-scaling, and automation techniques, aligned with FinOps practices.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (10+ years related experience may substitute for a degree)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Google Associate Cloud Engineer
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent
- 8+ years in IT, with 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering roles, preferably in enterprise-scale environments
- Expertise in implementing hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, leveraging cloud-native services, serverless computing, microservices architectures, and containerization on Azure and GCP
- Solid understanding of core infrastructure services and concepts, including networking, security, identity and access management, monitoring, and disaster recovery
- Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, managing automation platforms, and automating software releases in DevSecOps environments
- Proficiency in using Infrastructure-as-Code tools, declarative languages, and scripting languages
- Strong communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, advocating for best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills, experience in troubleshooting and optimizing cloud infrastructure
