Position Overview

 

The Cybersecurity Engineer I is a member of global team of security engineers, architects and practitioners who are enabling business growth and access to information, data, and services from anywhere with a security and risk minded approach. The role requires fundamental knowledge, skills and experience in IT and IT security in one or more of the following areas: network, server, endpoint, cloud, operational technology (OT) or other environments to ensure security is incorporated into all components of our environment as per our standards and aligned to our risk framework. Specific in depth or subject matter expertise is expected in at least one technology or capability area.

This role supports the implementation and configuration of security products and solutions to meet our requirements in an agile way, balancing risk, functionality, and speed to deliver.

This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Engineering and Technology and will serve as a security engineer on projects and day to day support. They will be working engineers/architects, analysts and/or service providers to help support, maintain and operate security technologies.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operations – ITSM & On-Call

  • Monitor, control, and support execution of security service delivery including requests, incidents, root cause, problem and change management in compliance to ITSM policies and process.
  • Provide post implementation support and regular system maintenance and support which will periodically require evening, weekend, and on-call support.
  • Implement and maintain core cyber security capabilities, technologies and systems.
  • Identify potential threats, exploit attempts and security events. Make recommendations and/or take action to mitigate these issues as appropriate.

Projects & Delivery

  • Project participant responsible for completion of projects across different technology areas or teams from design through post-implementation.

Threat/Risk

  • Identify risks both operational and security during day-to-day activities and during specific, targeted efforts or audits. Make recommendations and/or take action to mitigate these risks as appropriate

Compliance

  • Regularly review security technologies, infrastructure and systems to ensure compliance and best practices are being followed and where necessary, resolve and/or escalate inconsistencies and issues.

Team/Personal Development

  • Develop and maintain security relevant skills and knowledge, both technical and non-technical, through training, certifications, and other means for oneself

Planning

  • Maintain application/system configuration lifecycles within cyber security and IT policies.
  • Contribute to sizing and budget estimations to align with life cycle/renewal schedules.

Capabilities, Solutions and Systems Development

  • Contribute to assessing cyber security capabilities/solutions and how best to integrate them.

 

Required Qualifiecations

  • AA Degree in business or related area. May consider 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree
  • One or More of: GIAC Certified, CCSK, OCSP, CISSP, Cloud Certified (AWS, GCP Azure), CEH, ITIL, CCNS, CISC, CPFA, RHCE, Microsoft Certification, Security
  • 5-8 years’ experience in IT or IT related projects
  • 1+ year public cloud experience (Azure, GCP and/or AWS)
  • Understands full project lifecycle
  • Able to understand requirements and design a technical solution
  • Ability to adjust to changes, deal with uncertainties and adapt to adjustments to project plans
  • Works within standards and guidelines for systems development and operational support and meets deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and set priorities
  • Ability to work in geographically diverse, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Positive approach to customer service with demonstrated ability to handle high pressure support needs in a calm, respectful, and efficient manner.

Base Salary: $87,910-$153,870 


Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
